Motel 6 Greenville, SC - I-85 Near Downtown — Hotel in Mauldin

I didn’t stay here but wanted to leave a review for reference. I had a reservation for 9 nights with this location and I can only say I’m glad that I didn’t end up staying here ! First of all, I attempted to call ahead of my arrival to confirm my reservation and for 4 hours I could not reach anyone. Then I arrive and there is a tweaker lady sitting on the curb , smoking a cigarette and talking on the phone. I get out of my vehicle to go to the window and the woman stands up and starts rudely yelling out “can I help you ?!” I look at her not thinking SHE was an employee and then she says “I work here, can I help you ?!” I said “yes I have a reservation and I’ve been trying to call you” Then she goes inside and comes back to the window and she starts talking all fast and I couldn’t really understand her all I heard was that they were going to charge me $100 for my dogs and that the manager talked to me about the rules of staying for more than 7 days ??? I didn’t understand why I was being charge because motel 6 allows pets to stay free and when I asked her about it she only said “my general manager charges for pets” I was frustrated with the fact that this woman was so unprofessional, rude and that I couldn’t even understand what she was saying. I told her I would find another place to stay. Come to find out I called motel 6 customer service and they had booked me under a reservation for something called a “studio” instead of the regular motel because of the length of my stay. We have been staying here for a little over a month. We have 3 small children and they put us in a room upstairs. The construction of the hotel is shotty at best so the people below you can hear every move you make. The people downstairs are drug dealers who seem to be buddies with the office and management. They complained about the noise my kids were making and the manager tried to throw us out 2 times for that. After that, they (the office) called up and claimed that my children were outside climbing on cars when they my kids had not been outside in over 2 weeks. (this place is seedy so we let them out on a limited basis. THEN, their maintenance guy was out here pressure washing and hit our AC unit spewing glass and insulation all over the room. We called the office to complain and were told, " The maintenance guy is the manager's friend so nothing will be done about it." There were their words VERBATUM! Later that same afternoon, the manager comes to tell us he won't re-rent to us because we are "too much". The first complaint you make at this place you will be thrown out. The rooms are TINY, the walls paper thin, you can't get fresh linens and they won't even give you free toilet paper! DO NOT STAY HERE!! The people who run the place prefer hookers, drug dealers and crack heads to stay here rather than people with families or just plain decent people. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The room had a stomach churning smell of smoke. The room was filthy including black a black gooey film that turned our socks charcoal black when walking for just a few minutes throughout the room. Dripping of an unknown fluid throughout the walls, copious amounts of dust, dirt and dead bugs along the floor and furniture, cigarette holes and stains on the bedsheets, a literal PITCHFORK carved into the TV, and dirty stained towels. To top it off there was screaming throughout the night until 3am yelling for someone to "pull up." When we called to the front desk to ask if they had the ability to change us to a a clean or smell free room the desk associate claimed she wasn't sure which rooms were clean if any. I spoke to the front desk in the morning and they stated night audit did not inform them of this. No refund, no discount, nothing to make our stay bearable. Please stay literally anywhere else. My room was under I work in hotels and there should be not only a designated housekeeper who makes sure the room is clean but also a housekeeping manager who checks after each housekeeper. The response from night audit and front desk makes it seem that they either have no housekeeping, no housekeeping management, or they do have staff but they are not doing there job whatsoever.
