This motel is conveniently located off of I-40. Actually, it's not clear which driveway to use to get in, but is easy to get in. The young lady that checked me in was pleasant to deal with, but her co-worker could have handled a couple that did not have a reservation better ..... YIKES!
It was just an overnight stay for us, so we weren't asking for much, and, other than only one light bulb working in the bathroom and the typical blaring a/c unit, all was well.
The next morning my wife was going to take a shower and the shower door immediately fell off its track when she opened it. I got that usable, then went downstairs to see if I could get some hot water for my morning beverage. Anymore, more places seem to have hot water dispensers easily accessible. Well, I was going down in the elevator and realized I did not have a mask with me, but hoped there would be no interaction with anyone. I stepped off the elevator and peered around the corner to see if I could find what I was looking for. Several staff were behind some tables to serve breakfast, and I asked if they had hot water available when one of them threw her arms out and shouted at me that I could not be in that area without a mask. At that point I was still 10 feet away. I just made my way to the elevator.
Back upstairs, the staff was pleasant and welcoming.
At checkout I wanted to bring it to their attention about the lighting and the shower door, but the young lady behind the counter, I guess, was really into that security system, as she was glued to the TV behind the counter. She said something when she saw me, but, with her mask on, I couldn't understand her, plus I wanted to relay the information about the room. Usually the desk wants to know when you check out so they can get into the room to clean it, has been my experience. I asked her to repeat what she had said, and finally discerned that I was to put my "keys" into a jar and they would email me our receipt. How they knew what room we were checking out of, I would not know. I did let her know some things needed attention, at which point she did come over and was attentive, but at this point it was all too obvious that a portion of this staff feels that they are the focus of this establishment, instead of those who choose to stay there.
We didn’t have to stay there, it is just a location along the route we take from time to time, but will be one place we won’t stop at again. I was still bothered somewhat by the time we got back on the road, and it made me realize how important it is to make such a stay pleasant for travelers/guests, and this was actually the first time I have ever had this kind of experience at a stay. This location does not reflect our normal experience at Holiday Inn Express locations across the country. My wife told me to get over it, and after posting this, I will lay it down. I admit that no one likely have this kind of experience, but...
Read moreI have previously visited this hotel and like both the location and the rooms. Overall, a good hotel and the staff are for the most part friendly and helpful.
I did experience a problem on this stay. My wife and I were staying at this hotel while I was attending a meeting in Little Rock on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday morning, since I was a Gold Elite member of IHG Rewards, I called the front desk and requested a late checkout. The young lady who I spoke with on the phone was very friendly, but didn't seem to know I could ask for a late checkout or not. She had to ask someone else regarding my request, then told me since I was a Gold Elite member, I could wait to check out until 1pm.
While I was at my meeting in Little Rock, my wife remained in the room and was planning to checkout at 1pm. Shortly after 11am, housekeeping knocked on the door and informed my wife that she had to check out right away. My wife told housekeeping that we had a late checkout and that she would be checking out at 1pm. Housekeeping did not reply to her but turned and spoke with another member of housekeeping in Spanish, then walked away without replying to my wife.
Shortly thereafter this encounter, someone from the front desk called our room and informed my wife that it was time to checkout. My wife informed the person on the phone that we had requested a late checkout and that she would be checking out at 1pm. The front desk staff member who called apologized and the phone call was then ended.
I have to express that I am a little frustrated that my wife had to go through this with the hotel staff. I called the front desk the morning of our checkout and requested a late checkout. I was informed that I could wait to checkout at 1pm. My wife should not have had to explain to both housekeeping and the front desk person who called that we were previously given permission to checkout late. The person I spoke to on the morning of checkout should have made some type of notation of the late checkout permission given and should have informed housekeeping of the late checkout request.
This was the only problem encountered during our stay, so I will probably stay at this hotel again in the future due to it's location and...
Read moreLet me first start by saying the front desk was helpful. That’s it. The hotel hallway carpets on all floors were stained badly. Needed to be vacuumed badly. The hotel ice machine on my floor broken. The smell of our room, gross. Floors in room gross, dark, dingy, and full of stains. Had to wipe down bathtub. Found dirt specs and one body hair. Torn bath curtain. Small amount of dried toothpaste on bathroom counter. Scrubbed it off with Lysol wipe. When we arrived at 10:30 pm house keepers were still cleaning multiple rooms. Vacuuming until 12:30 am. Two families that we were traveling with left in the middle of the night they had mold on their room. Only reason we didn’t leave is we were with a group and they already charged my card and was afraid I would not get refunded in time or at all with. We had to bring our own blankets in because, those sheets just scared us from what we had to clean. One House keeper In particular was extremely rude. Can’t recall her name. Told us to move as she got off the elevator. One fridge we saw was stained with spilt coffee. Dirty pillow cases in some other rooms and the windows look like they haven’t been washed since Bush SR. Spoke to a local there and was told the hotel was flooded two weeks prior. That makes sense with the smell in most rooms. The pool area beware. Slimy floor, and debris on the bottom. Absolutely disgusting. Over $2.50 for a single wash and $2.50 for a single dry in the laundry room. For two days $322 dollars for horribleness. I have stayed at holiday inn express before. Not the greatest but now we this bad. Only stayed because the group reserved it and we had to pay well in advance. Never again. Sorry for the front desk workers. But the...
