I didn't like this place from the moment I spoke to the receptionist in the front. She was snarky, rude, and did not seem happy to have guests. The room on the booking site is obviously photoshopped and cleaned up because the room I am in is definitely not the room in the pictures. The bathroom is stained, the mini fridge looks crusty, the walls look dirty, and wardrobe/closet non existant. There is no back on the remote controls and I felt like I needed to sanitize everything before even sleeping in the room. The rest of the employees were kind and accommodating and made the stay bearable, but I doubt I will refer this motel (not hotel because it definitely wasn't nice enough) to others or stay here again. Also, bugs! This booking site and the hotel website did not disclose a pet fee, which would've affected my booking choices. I understand hotels reserve the right to charge the fee, however, charges like that need to be disclosed for guests, not sprung up when it's too late to cancel booking and get charged a cancelation fee. I needed to get a lawyer involved in order to not get charged for my service dog, who's still in training but still able to do tasks required for her service. The lawyer had to inform the establishment that its illegal to demand certification on the service animal, demand disclosure of medical information/service requirements for my animal, and refuse service. The same receptionist from check-in needs to reevaluate her presentation because when I was checking out, I wanted to help mitigate future incidents regarding service animals by letting her know what she can legally ask and what's illegal to ask, but she decided to continue being rude and snarky and calling me a liar for retaining my right to not disclose my medical condition and service animal requirement, which I did apologize for as it would've been helpful to mitigate the miscommunication, but she still insisted on certification (on a training dog performing tasks) which is illegal in the state of Texas. It made me extremely uncomfortable and unlikely to recommend this hotel to other guests. Overall, I did not like my stay in this hotel and will likely not...
Read moreMy fiancé and I are on a road trip cross country and have been staying in hotels from New Hampshire to Texas so far, and this is by far the worst one we have ever stayed in. When we got there half the rooms were being renovated. We walk in and everything is pushed to one side of the room and half the room is just completely empty. There was paint taken off the walls like they had taken down shelves or something. There was no bible in either of the bedside tables. When we got there there was no water pressure because a pipe broke (which isn’t their fault. But they said 30-40 min and it would be fixed and it took almost 2 hours. My fiancé used to do that for a living and said it was a half an hour job at most) the fan in the bathroom didn’t work at all. It made noise but you could hold a lighter up to it and the flame wouldn’t move at all. Anything above eye level wasn’t cleaned. I ran my finger along the top of the shower and my finger came off a different color. On the ceiling above the bed there was black mold (which I’m assuming is why they were renovating the rooms) The safe in the room was shut and locked. The bathtub didn’t have anything to plug it to take a bath. And after all of that I was going to walk away and not say anything. However 10 minutes before checkout, we were packing up and bringing stuff to the car, and the housekeeper came knocking on the door trying to kick us out AND she had the audacity to TELL us to give her a tip. We will never be staying here ever again and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever stay at another Texas inn again if this is...
Read moreIf you can avoid staying at this hotel by all means please do. There's many other AMAZING choices out there such as Clarion Inn that will stay within a budget and have excellent customer service, breakfast and overall better stay than this place. Chris who claims to be "General Manager" is the rudest front desk clerk I have ever encountered. He feels entitled to talk back, threaten, harrass and raise his voice at guests. Regardless of what happens when people stay at a hotel, it is the duty of Management and the hotel staff to maintain an appropriate level of professionalism of which Chris has no idea what that even means. He has continued to harrass me now via email, making comments on my personal life which is really and truly NONE OF HIS BUSINESS, he should maintain his professionalism and keep his comments about hotel guests to himself, no matter what the situation and he has done the complete opposite. He also lies and makes false accusations about the hotel guests. I will be seeking legal advise on this matter and will use all and every message received from this property as proof. Any replies coming from Texas Inn & Suites on 23rd Street in McAllen and from Chris after this review is posted will also be used for that purpose.
