For the cost of these dated bungalows, the value is definitely not there. Not only were the grounds unsightly outside of Bungalow #6 that we stayed in (maintenance supplies, wood scraps directly off the porch, randomly placed cinder blocks, etc.) the inside of the bungalow was also filthy. At first glance, it appeared clean, but once we started walking around, using the kitchen and bathroom, and climbing into bed, we noticed it was far from clean.
The floors didn't appear swept and our socks immediately turned black when walking barefoot; the kitchen counters and bedroom nightstands were sticky to the touch; the dining table had crumbs embedded in the cracks and what appeared to be dried gravy that we had to scrape off; the kitchen sink had leftover food in it; cups had a thick film on them and were temporarily stained; the only pan in the kitchen had a thick black layer of burnt food in it along with what appeared to be a dried leaf, making it completely unusable; one of the bedrooms had stained sheets; and the shower was covered in black mold. Most of the curtains were difficult to open and the front door curtain was hanging off, broken, when we arrived. The only light in the main living area had a burned out bulb and the fan was covered in dust.
The closet in the primary bedroom was unusable due to the amount of items being stored in it. And, the AC/Heat did not work. Fortunately, it was cool enough that we could open the windows to cool the inside down, but even then, some of the windows wouldn't open, so we had to go outside to pry them open. Most of the outlets were inoperable, and one was even dangling off the wall and would spark when plugging something into it.
We called ahead of our stay to confirm if certain items would be available, and they weren't, which was an inconvenience.
They ask you to clean before you leave, and I'm pretty sure we left it in better shape than when we arrived. They specifically ask you to wipe down the counters, but don't even provide cleaning materials.
Pros: Comfortable beds and pillows. Convenient location.
Before posting this review, we called management during our stay with all of these complaints, giving them the chance to make things right -- they did not. Instead, they hardly acknowledged what we were saying and made excuses for most of...
Read moreBit of a disappointment. If you are sensitive to the artificial and toxic smell of cleaning products you’ll need to air out the place before you can be in there. I’m not sure why they don’t use unscented cleaning products. There were only 2 trash bags and we were staying 2 nights so we had to go buy more. They say the kitchens are fully furnished, but if you actually intend on cooking you might want to bring your own pots/pans and spatula. Our room had a pan with a handle that was about to fall off and you couldn’t even pick up the pan with food in it or the handle would bend, and the spatula had plastic flaking off. We arrived shortly after 4:00 check in and the housekeeper brought her kids while she was cleaning the cottage next door. They were running around and screaming and crying in the rocking bench right outside our window- needless to say it was disturbing and not peaceful and we couldn’t keep the windows open. The cabin on the other side of us was being renovated and the contractor had parked his truck and trailer across sideways all the spots- including the one set aside for our cabin. We had to park way across the lot in the guest space, which wasn’t ideal for limited mobility guests to have to walk that far. The spots and parking lot are also small and I couldn’t imagine how difficult it would be when the whole complex is full in the summer if you have a full size SUV or pickup truck. We never received a separate email the morning of check in, as the directions said we would. You have to look at your original email when you booked the place, and there is a link in there that sends you to a page with your door code. This was very confusing to have to figure out - they should update their instructions to reflect the...
Read moreMy wife and I took our little boy to McCall for a night stay and chose Brundage Bungalows after looking at their pictures and skimming through their reviews. While on the phone booking a cabin they let us know the check-in time wasn't until 4 p.m. and the check-out was right at 11 a.m. They also informed us that the booking is non-refundable under any circumstances. The day before our stay we got our email letting us know the strict conditions that came along with our stay. Amenities such as two toilet paper rolls, towels and such are limited to stay and expected to replenish at your own expense after if needed. They also stated that the check-out was a strict time of 11 a.m. and at 11:01 a.m. you're susceptible to a $33 charge. My wife and I arrived at about 3:50 p.m. and parked in our assigned spot and adjusted from the drive. We then noticed that our assigned cabin had trash on the front porch and the door was open. We waited a few minutes. We got out of the car and started to get our bags out but realized the trash was still there and the door was closed. The two cleaning ladies were working on our cabin and another at the same time but had no sense of urgency. Finally after 4:15 they let us know the floors were wet but it was open. Within a couple of minutes one of the ladies asked to come back in to do a final walk through and even still missed an energy drink of theirs half full on the fridge. All in all...
