What a gem! I stopped by Alpine Pantry a couple weeks ago for breakfast. I sat outside on one of their adorable colored picnic tables and had a gorgeous view of the lake. The service was really friendly and quick.
One glance at the menu and I knew I had to try the Banana Carmel Dream French toast (scratch made banana bread dunked in French toast batter, crisped to order topped with sliced bananas, sweet cream and salted caramel sauce, $13.00). I also ordered an Alpine Berries and Sweet Cream Crepe ($5.00) with a side of eggs ($1.50) and a Crispy Potato Cake ($4.00). I loved it all! The French toast truly lived up to its name. The bread itself was some of the best banana bread I'd ever had! And the sweet cream was heavenly! You shouldn't skip out on this one especially if you've got a sweet tooth. The Crepe was equally as scrumptious and the eggs were fantastic. There were more egg whites than yolk which is exactly how I make them at home and no where else does it. The Potato Cake was out-of-this-world delicious and I wish I remembered what exactly when in it! Highly recommend this side :)
It's so nice to have another breakfast option in McCall once again especially at this end of town. I can't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLoved our breakfast at the Alpine Pantry! I love it when restaurants allow you to do half orders of a benedict. You know, sometimes you just need a little! Anyway, this time around I didn't get a single order but rather split a full order of the Idahoan (sockeye salmon, capers, dill, lemon) benedict with my partner.
The dish either comes with a side salad or potato cake (think griddled mashed potatoes.) With the split they served one benedict with salad on each plate - super nice of them to split it out like that.
We also got a side of bacon and a potato cake to try. Everything was delicious but I was a bit surprised the salmon was more of a salmon cake, not salmon with the other accoutrements. The cake was a bit crumbly but still very tasty. The benedict is also served on a biscuit rather than English muffin...something I haven't seen since being in the South!šš
The coffee was also super good. There's a market there with fresh & pantry items, a great outdoor seating area and it's perfectly situated across from the lake/beach. What more could you possibly...
Ā Ā Ā Read more8oz is the new 16oz aka the 8/16 latte. Apparently when you order a 16oz latte you actually get an 8oz latte with 8oz of foam. . When I was handed my so called 16oz latte I literally laughed a bit and asked the server/barista if there was indeed coffee in the cup? She replied yes, and just a little foam at the top. Being a seasoned coffee shop explorer and avid drinker of the 16oz latte I knew this to be a sham. Upon sitting at my table I peeled back the layers of foam with a spoon so I could measure the true amount. As you can see from my photo it is indeed about 50% full, hence the 8/16 latte. . They say a picture iss worth a thousand words, so Iāll just leacve this gem right here and leave you with one final thought. . āIf you had one shot, or one opportunityā¦one moment. Would you let it slip?ā The first, and last time I shall indulge in a ā16āoz latte at Alpine...
