On Friday June 21st I checked into the Super 8 North by Wyndham hotel with my husband and our middle child expecting to stay for 2 nights in room 122 checking out on Sunday June 23rd. Due to moving out of our place we needed to stay there a few days so I booked the room through Orbitz.com. But the morning of June 22nd around 5am I was awoken out of my sleep to being bitten by bugs on my left leg & my right upper under arm. I immediately woke my husband who was next to me and showed him the bites and in doing so I swiped a huge bug on the mattress that left a streak of blood. I hopped out of bed to then see a brown like bug and a small clear like bug crawling to the edge of the bed. My husband then got out of the bed to exam the mattress which was full with these little creepy crawlers. I ran to the front office which was locked so I knocked on the door until a white lady whose name I can not recall answered. She told me she was preparing the guest breakfast and I as I was freaking out showed her my bites. I could tell she was very disturbed by her facial expression as she began to figure out what to do because, she could not contact the manager because she wasn’t going to be in until the next morning. So she began to explain to me that she would put us in another room which was room 101. My husband had come down to check on me and the receptionist then told us the manager wouldn’t be in until morning so she took down both of our numbers and gave us quarters to wash laundry and also gave us some laundry detergent a guest had left there which she said she knew would come in handy one day! And she explained that we needed to take all of our belongings that we had in the room and wash them in hot water and dry them in heat to insure that there were no bugs in our stuff in the onsite laundry facility around the corner. At this point I’m extremely itchy and distraught. And asked for my money back she explained she couldn’t give us a refund because we had booked through a third party. As I’m watching the clock it’s now almost 6 am. I have to be up at 7am to get ready for my 8am shift at my salon! I’m panicking now like what do we do? we don’t have any other options,we have a 6 year old who doesn’t need to know what’s going on asleep in bed in the room and we didn’t have anywhere else to go at 6am! So we took the room she offered and she told us the manager would probably not want to give us money back because she could be difficult at times about refunding money but she didn’t blame me for want a refund because that’s what she would have wanted herself in my situation. So my husband and I went up to room 122 & moved all of our belongs out of the room and placed them in bags. And lastly he moved our babygirl without disturbing her from be awaken from her sleep. I looked at the mattress in the light for myself one last time and could see the bed was infested with bed bugs. I was horrified at that point I rather have slept in our SUV then to go into another hotel room at Super8 . So we go down to the room which was 101 which smelled terrible inside and instantly I was even more uncomfortable but I had to go in because Had work soon. The bites on my leg started be big round red circles and were burning itchy I was so uneasy on my job that day After work Returnto the hotel to see if the manager was there. But instead there was a black lady receptionist who was very rude to me and acted as if she didn’t care about the whole situation. When I told her I wanted my money back after she responded to me “okay, and what do you want me to about it” so ask to speak to a manager again who she had told me left for the day. I was infuriated because not only was I tired from a long day but I just wanted answers and no one could give them to me. I asked the receptionist what I could do about getting my refund and she told me I would have to wait a few days or we could leave. I already paid my money online so we decided to stay and check...
Read moreLet's just say the internet makes this place seem a hell of alot better then what it truly is. I have no complaints with the service or staff, they did what they were to do and were friendly enough. When we arrived i was shocked of what the hotel actually looked like vice what it looked like online. The room was not the cleanest, spills and stines splattered all over the wall...at least there was not any bugs or cockroaches but I still have to give the rooms a 1 star. Was very outdated and overall had that pungy smell along with a Marijuana smell lurking in the room and in the halls...
As me and my family were getting settled in, a loud cop knock was knocking on the door , I peeped out the peephole and los and behold I was right, it was the police. I answered the door and they said they were looking for someone who I don't even know anybody by the name that name, I told them politely I don't know who they are talking about they then asked if they could come in my room to check it out and make sure that the dude they were looking for wasn't in the room . I let them for once again I have no idea who they were looking for. When they were done with my room they then continued to knock on basically every other upstairs room doors. Which is crazy to me, that also means this hotel works with the police and does let the police come onto there property obviously and pretty much harras paying customers who are NOT in trouble with the law.. this hotel is deff not a hotel you would want to stay in let alone bring your children into. We paid for two nights but ended up leaving after staying only one night. If i didn't have my children with me, I really wouldn't of minded staying here seeing as all the negatives about this place wasn't that awful compared to other hotels with this price that I stayed at before...I just did not like the whole vibe and I guess you can say the crowd of people that lurked around this area even though the people did not bother me or dk anything to mr, just wasn't my whole vibe .... this hotel is right beside another hotel both are just puny and ran down They do have breakfast but we did not partake in their breakfast for u didn't trust the rooms let alone trust to put stuff in my mouth that came from this place.
The price is cheap but if the price is that cheap to where it's too good to be true, it more then likely is too good to be true!! Wish I could get refunded for the night we did stay but it is not even worth my time to try to do that. I'll just write this one off as a lost and know this name brand of hotel is someplace I should avoid all together
Unlesssss you enjoy trappin if that's the case you can trap here everyday and alright but I'm defff not about that life with my kids traveling with me so travelers who don't want to trap, do...
Read moreDo NOT, I repeat, DO NOT stay at this horrid excuse for a hotel! As soon as we got there, a jalopy van parked exactly in front of the door took off like it was on fire and almost ran me over. No one was in the lobby at the counter. I waited about 7-8 minutes until the jalopy van returned and the driver went around the counter to check me in. I guess they run a shuttle service to ??? The room is damp and warm walking in. It appears that they attempted to update the room at some point, but used a $4 budget to do it. The furniture looks like garage sale left overs, the 32" tv, with analog signal, was filthy like someone sprayed it with oil and let it drip dry, lights are dull except for the tall lamp in the corner; it didn't even have anywhere to plug in, so we can't judge it. One of the beds had a dip in the middle of it about the size of a cinder block. The warm-ish fridge was plugged into a power strip along with the microwave that we didn't trust enough to use, and the tv. The bug bait trap was standing in its side next to the strip. The light over the sink needs about 15 seconds to warm up before it will turn on. The bathroom is small. The "new" toilet is about 10" in diameter and 10" from the floor and retained the former toilets seal on the floor to help retain filth. Behind the door was a wrapper, chunks of dirt and trash, unidentified brown smudges on the wall (ewe), and dirty toilet paper twists (ewe). The shower had plenty of hot water, but less pressure than dripping faucet. I'm pretty sure I received 3rd degree rug burn from their bath towels. The 3 bugs I saw on the floor seem to run off easily when stomping on the floor and the one on the sink counter I trapped under a paper cup and washed it down the drain. A/C was ice cold when it ran for a little while. The door lock functions properly, but the gap at the bottom of the door is enough to slide a small package under. I wasn't worried about the front window being made of plexiglass with a painted on frame since all of the other rooms were the same. You get to park right in front of your room, but beware the large craters, especially if you drive a sports car. Cost wasn't bad initially, but when compared to quality, you most certainly don't get what you paid for. This room should have been $300 cheaper, even with the Corvette event going on in Carlisle. I will attend the event again, but would rather miss it than stay here if there are no other places available. We were not brave enough to try their breakfast. The least I can rate is 1 star, but would really go 1/4 just cause of...
