Where to start.... the hostess/greeter seated a party of 3 with only 2 sets of eating utensils. My wife asked for a cream chipped beef meal, and asked that her home fries not have the chipped beef on them, it covered more than half? My daughter and I both had a side of grits which were very soupy very runny. As shown in the pictures two plates had significant damage(chips in them) as well as a hot chocolate mug, these are issues that are a direct result of multiple employees that just don't care, the plating should have been caught by the cooks 1st and when they failed the server then should have caught it. Speaking of the server not just our sever but multiple servers were wearing sweat pants, and I spotted 1 server drinking in a service area (directly behind the customer eating bar) in plain sight of all the guests. Another employee was observed playing on his phone and also talking on his phone in the dining room while all but laying down at a service station. To speak of the food itself it was at best below average. The toast under my wifes chipped beef was tough as leather. All in all this place in my opinion should not even be open for business. This was our 2st and guaranteed last visit to this place, and I would strongly urge everyone to stay clear of this establishment. If just drive a few more minutes toward Carlisle, you will find a place Moonlight Diner to be a vastly better place to dine, better in every way imaginable.

Being a traveler, I've gone to plenty of diners. While visiting the Harrisburg area, this diner was recommended. It's in a large and growing area but the diner held on to it's small, neighborhood charm which appeals to me. When I arrived and I seated quickly despite there being a large amount of people...the line moved quickly. The server was friendly and my food was served quickly. The portions were huge (the basic trademark of a good diner). The food was great and was almost too much to finish. It was an excellent meal. The total cost was very reasonable considering what I ordered and how much was on my plate! Then too, don't forget about dessert. All appears to be homemade. When back to Harrisburg for the next car service, this will be be my first choice! Great place for kids and for larger families. The price is right! One word of caution for anyone with an autistic family member, it is loud and a lot of stimulation happening. Enjoy!

I was looking for somewhere local to eat that had good reviews. I should have listened to the recent posts and stayed away. I ordered the Turkey dinner with gravy, stuffing two sides and a salad. I ordered the Caesar salad and a salad with iceberg lettuce is what I got. As you can see the lettuce is old and turned color. I told the waitress that what she brought was was not a caesar salad and she responded "they are doing weird things back there". The rest of the food was passable and filling, but it is clear this place is past it's time. Furniture is old, the walls and carpet are dirty. The entire place is tired and worn out. Service was slow even though they had enough wait staff and the place was half empty. The owners should consider selling the place or entirely revamp the place. I know this is harsh, but you can tell it is a well liked and locally supported business. The Middlesex Diner is not worth the stop.

Yesterday morning our Hostess ended up tossing our silverware on our table for 8 people muttering as she ran off she didn't have time to pass out the silverware because she had to get our drinks which we didn't see for 10 minutes after we sent 2 people in to get us a table 10 minutes early which should have lent enough time to set the table for a large party. Then she added an oh we don't have any spoons with a "sorry for you" butter knife. So we're stirring coffee with a butterknife. During this wait there wasn't a hostess or waitress to be found in all the dinning area which was packed. Apparently they we're all hiding in back is our guess. Eventually we get our food. One order was completely over cooked and after the 3rd round of explaining what was wrong and what the other 7 needed we gave up. The waitress was too busy being social to refill coffee so we ended up filling our own with the coffee pot that had been forgotten on an empty table.

I'm trying to take into account we're coming out of Covid. Staff has to get back into the groove but this wasn't their day to shine. When it's problems across the board from seating, to cutlery, food, coffee. It's not only a employee problem, it's a management problem. We didn't see a manager lending a hand at any level.

Long story short some of us came from 1 and 2 hours away for mediocre experience. Highly...

Service and food have gone downhill. We were seated and waited 10 minutes for a server who asked if our drink orders had been taken, which they were not. We ordered our drinks and food. My son ordered a Chocolate Milk, which arrived and was sour. When the server brought our food, she did not bring bacon that was to be with my and my wife’s meals. She took my son’s sour chocolate milk back, but since he didn’t trust the milk he ordered a lemonade. She said she would be back with the lemonade and bacon. She also had only brought one set of silverware. She came back with silverware and a lemonade but again had forgotten the bacon. About 5 minutes later she brought bacon. My wife and I had both ordered rye toast which seemed stale. The bacon seemed like it had been sitting, definitely didn’t taste right. My hash browns were burnt to the extent I was afraid I’d chip a tooth so I didn’t eat them. My wife had ordered eggs scrambled loose, they were not loose. Server only checked on us once about 15 minutes after eventually bringing the bacon. All around bad experience, which has not been the case in the past. We only go there since we are not fans of Silver Spring Diner, but we won’t bother...
