When I think of Marriot i instantly think about how all staff are focused on customer service with pride, but NOT HERE...so let me start with my sister is a TITANIUM member. With that being said since we're flying to Texas today we called before hand and she spoke with an employee that stated 4pm check out is totally fine and reinstated that she should be able to utilize her membership perks. Great so we choose Delta Marriot, everything was fine until 1134pm (26 minutes from midnight) and told her that she needs to provide another credit card on file (I used my card! Victor M) and noticed that the charge for the room was still pending, and they attempted over 4 transactions so my card locked, I understand that I charged more than 20$ which is the incidental hold but to be told to pay ANOTHER 118$ BALANCE AFTER MY FIRST BALANCE BEING HELD STILL then threatening us to pay another FULL BALANCE, "OR ELSE YAL HAVE TO LEAVE", instead of contacting us in the morning at a reasonable time, upset we didn't answer the phone call she figured it was best to pound on the door at midnight demanding another payment. So I had to call my man and tell him to drive back with my wallet I left in his car so I can submit another payment for my sister. I asked why do I need to submit a new payment when the first one is still being held on file? She couldn't give me a valid reason and then told me I had to cover my charges I billed to the room for the food I ordered. I hope someone reminds them that them customer service is the embodiment that makes Marriot a house hold name that's better than the rest. Very disappointing that the manager out of all people doubled down and had even worst customer service by stating it was a hassle getting the payment so that's why she won't allow a 4pm checkout?? We submitted 2 payments and we're told to leave at 1pm and when asked to speak to the GM of course the lady sent her to someone else.... Had to ask someone else to finally transfer her to the GM, still waiting to see how the GM handles this.
I won't talk about how the small rooms are smaller than a Baymont hotel or how the bathroom is looking like an efficiency apartments bathroom. I'm bothered by the lack of customer service. Sad they wouldn't even attempt to find middle ground, I'll never tell anyone to go here ever...
Read moreWe were in Minneapolis to visit family and go to the State Fair. This location was good for both purposes, and the hotel's State Fair shuttle was especially convenient. The shuttle left from the front door and took us to a very convenient drop-off/pick-up point at the heart of the Fair. We really appreciated this nice service. (And the Fair was great — well worth the trip!)||We also enjoyed the pool, which is larger — long enough for good laps — and nicer than most hotel pools these days. It's salt water, so a little different feel, but it was clean and comfortable.||Unfortunately, the shuttle and the pool are the only parts of our stay that were positives. Otherwise, service was indifferent and the platinum status amenities were disappointing. I have “feather free” in my profile (due to an allergy to down) but the room we were given was NOT feather-free. So late in the evening after flying cross country, we had to call down to the front desk, then wait a long while for someone to show up with only two foam pillows and one plain blanket. The timid housekeeper who brought stuff to us didn't know what to do -- make the bed? just hand us stuff? She was friendly, but clearly not trained for this situation. The next day, housekeeping missed us, so they missed the opportunity to correct and get proper feather-free furnishings. The day after, housekeeping did show up, but still didn’t get the room to where it should have been. It’s as if this hotel just wasn’t really prepared to accommodate a guest with a down allergy. The bed itself was comfortable -- it's just the bedding that disappointed.||The platinum status bonus here is access to a not very well stocked pantry. There are are few packaged snacks, some breakfast pastries and baked goods (not bad for what it was, but very basic and limited choice), bargain brand ice cream sandwiches and other frozen treats, and a big machine that makes weak coffee. All in a plain, drab room with no seating and no trays that make might make it easier to take stuff back to the room. Status just isn’t worth much here.||Days prior to our arrival, we started to receive messages about preparing for our stay — i.e. upselling early arrival, late check out, breakfast, etc. These messages were annoying, esp. given that we have status that should have covered some of these “extras.” Again, it seems like status isn’t worth much at...
Read moreWe stayed here 2 nights for a wedding that was held at a nearby venue. I liked the spacious lobby with fruit infused water, tons of seating, and a Starbucks counter. I visited the restroom down the hall from the lobby a couple of times and it was kept perfectly clean.
Our room was very clean and cool. The heavy wood furniture has a lot of sharp corners that extend where you don't expect them to be so we both left with a couple new bruises. The bed was comfortable with large pillows. The art in the room was really ugly and hung off center. We loved all the ports for charging phones and plugging in curling iron, etc, but not all of the ports were functional. The little refrigerator was handy for our beverages, but it froze our milk. The coffee in the room was pretty good. There was a sign mentioning a product to add to the complimentary bottles of water, but the product was nowhere to be found. At one point we requested more towels and they were delivered within minutes by a lovely person who also offered to take out our trash.
It was convenient to walk to the restaurant without going outside, but even during happy hour, the prices seemed high for what we got.
I did not visit the pool, but my wife said it was very nice and warm. She said the hot tub was unusually loud.
We enjoyed coffee in the lobby both mornings and on Saturday morning we found it challenging to chat and enjoy the company of our group because several unsupervised small children were running through the space, screaming, and climbing on the furniture while their parents ignored them. Other than the pool, there really didn't seem to be a better space for them to go.
Overall, this is a lovely hotel with excellent staff and nice amenities. The parking was great--the lot was well lit and we were able to park so that we could see our car...
