Mountain Inn — Hotel in Monteagle

This was the worst room I have ever stayed in. We walked in the room and were immediately hit with cigarette stench. Even though we asked for a non-smoking room and there was a no smoking sign on the door. There weren’t any linens or pillows on the beds. No towels, wash clothes or hand towels. No toiletries or toilet paper. Behind the bathroom door there was trash. The shower looked so nasty I wouldn’t even use it. The carpet was sticky. I asked for a roll away bed for my daughter and a man smoking a cigarette brought it into our room with a lit cigarette in his mouth! I told him to put it out because my daughter would be sleeping on that bed. I asked for another room immediately but they said they didn’t have anymore. I told them this room was nasty and it reeked of cigarettes. The man with the cigarette brought me a can of air freshener. Like that was going to help. Then he brought us towels and sheets. The nasty thin bedspreads had cigarette burns on them and smelled of cigarettes. I would not doubt that those bedspreads were from the 80s. It just kept getting worse and worse. We had been up for over 24 hours so we stayed because we were exhausted. The next morning the manager was no where to be found and I explained the condition of the room to a girl who said she cleaned that room. I told her she should be ashamed of the condition of that room and that she should be fired. I told them they should no longer say that room is non smoking. My three children, my husband and myself smelled like cigarettes for the rest of the drive home. When we got home things that stayed in our bags even reeked of cigarettes. My oldest has allergies and ended up sick the next week. Keep on driving if you see this place it’s not worth the money...

For a 40 dollar a night room with double occupancy. It has a bed, functioning air conditioning, carpeting although i don't suggest walking around barefoot in the room or outside the room for that matter, a television and a shower. You can't ask for much more at that price. Besides that the road access to it is in very poor condition, the outside of the building could use a very good pressure washing (if theres any contractors looking for work I'm sure you could convince the owner at the right price.) The carpeting on the outside hallways of the building need to be removed entirely and well as should all carpets in the building be removed. Bed Bugs and Mold Infestation could occur and I'm sure has in the past and could very well happen again. Easier to install laminate or tile to save a lot of money on hiring people to remove beg bugs and mold that could be associated with all of that. The Decor is very old school but at the very least its all in very good shape, plenty of lighting, air condition kept the room very cold albeit its an outdated 10+ Year Hotel AC, still works amazingly well. Besides all that the town was very pretty and enjoyable to drive around and see everything and the Sonic Is Amazing. I stayed here during my travel home from Kentucky due to weather conditions. One of the only things that was great was that it was right off the interstate and I was exhausted after being stuck on the interstate for so long. My sweetheart had called ahead and made sure they had a room prior to my arrival. When I got there the front desk lady was professional. I ended up getting a "discount" because my sweetheart called ahead and the total came out to 85.00. I had to wait for her to clean the room before I could go in.

The rooms aren't anything to write special about. The room had very minimal decor and minimal accessories. The room included a fridge and a 24" Television along with a small coffee maker. The smell in this room was overwhelming, but it wasn't the worst smell I've experienced. It wasn't enjoyable for me.

I wouldn't suggest this spot unless it's a last resort. For the price point vs what you get, I feel like there's better options.
