We stayed in the back portion of the Heritage House Inn in Muleshoe, TX, and it was one of the worst lodging experiences we’ve ever had. The window was broken with shattered glass and a hole in it, posing a serious safety risk. There were dirty handprints on the nightshades, and a metal spike was sticking out of the bed frame—it actually cut my son’s leg.
The entire place smelled like must, old people, and neglect. There was dust covering the lamps, and the walls were stained with food and other unidentifiable marks. The toilets were slow to fill, and when one clogged, staff left a plunger hanging on our door handle instead of offering any help.
The curtains were old, stained, and gross, and while the bedding appeared somewhat clean, it had holes and smelled off. The carpet was old and dirty, and outside the room, there were weeds everywhere and stray cats roaming the property.
The walls were paper-thin, and we could hear every footstep and noise from upstairs—it literally sounded like an elephant stomping around. The only somewhat clean area was the bathroom.
It looked like they might be starting renovations, but no one should be put in this back unit until serious repairs are made. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this place was filthy, unsafe, and unacceptable. We will not...

Read moreIt's an old place. But sometimes they have more charm. This was the first time I stayed. Looked old and charming, but. First room had an odor I couldn't identify. My small pet found something on the floor to eat. Bathroom towels were probably clean but I don't think they used anything to make them white. 2nd room same as first except I could identity odor. 3rd room no odor, old but doable. Desk person very nice, trying to find this old grouchy woman a room that would work. There was a pet fee of $20.00. 65.00+pet= 85.00. To me it probably wasn't worth it, but I tried. No bugs that night. Bed was nice and soft and had the antimicrobial zippered covers on everything. I was pleased to see that. The Dinner Bell is almost next door and has the best chicken fried steak with real mashed potatoes and cream white gravy. Absolutely wonderful. Leals for the Mexican food lovers. They have the best in West...
