Overall it was a good week stay. We experienced a problem with the lock on our door and it was changed by the owner/manager immediately. They are on site and very responsive!
PROS: Very close to the beach! That's what makes the entire place! Clean, well decorated rooms. We stayed in one of the two king rooms on either side of the office. Located at the very end of the beach so it's less crowded. Well lit, safe property.
CONS: Need to cross a pretty busy road to get to the beach. The little "porch" in front of the room for the king rooms is very small and one person has to sit in front of the door. Not a big deal. We wouldn't have sat there much if the weather was better. I realize they are on the water but all of the linens (towels especially) smelled so mildewed even when clean. I live on the water at home and there's really no reason the towels can't be fresh. Unfortunately it's NOT a non-smoking facility so people were smoking on their porches. We were unable to open our window even on the nicer days because of the smoking. It's unfortunate. The air conditioning unit in the room was very loud so it was difficult to sleep with it on but too hot to sleep with it off. The proximity to the beach is great but there is nothing near there. You have to drive (or bike ride several miles) to any restaurants. That may be fine for...
Read moreWe booked several rooms at the Anchor for my daughter's wedding based on the great reviews. The motel did not disappoint! I had room #14 as a MOB should have the best room in the house. We had booked about 80% of the rooms there. I received many thanks from our family and friends for directing everyone to the motel; everyone was very pleased with the accommodations. They don't do room blocks but the prices are competitive and even less than the big box hotels room block prices further away from Ocean Rd. The location was ideal, we were close to the wedding venue and oceanside eateries, walking trails etc. The accommodations were excellent, comfy mattresses, very clean rooms, no musty motel smell. an ocean view from every room. You can see the commitment and investment of this family run motel. Many recent upgrades: trek deck porches, solar panels, inside & outside lighting, and more. A great experience was...
Read more[Overnight Stay] I recently spent the night at The Anchor Motel in Narragansett [directly across the street from Scarbrough State Beach] with a group of family members and we were very happy with the accommodations. All of our rooms featured a small porch with two patio chairs and a small table, two full-sized beds, a nightstand, a dresser, a mini-fridge (dorm room size), and a clean bathroom (shower/tub combo). The Anchor Motel was exactly what we needed, no-frills, direct access to the beach, safe, and clean! The owners did provide freshly brewed coffee in the little lobby of the motel each morning and were super friendly. My family has stayed here multiple times over the past couple of years and has always been happy with the level of comfort. I would recommend The Anchor Motel to anyone looking for a low-key...
