Wonderful place to celebrate our 49 th Wedding Anniversary. Carole was the best and most hospitable Inn keeper than we have ever met. Within minutes of our arrival, Carole showed us around her 134 year old home and shared some of its history. The three beautifully decorated bedrooms were very comfortable for lounging , sleeping or watching your favorite movie. Our “Gold Room”had a private bath while the other two had a shared bathroom. . She then proceeded to share some of her “must see” recommendations for downtown Navasota. We made our way to the downtown area and all of the shops and the intriguing historical elements that Carole had recommended for us to visit were as interesting as she had shared . We interacted with the shop owners that we met and they were so hospitable and welcoming as if we were family. For dinner we decided to pickup a to go order from Rail & Rye which is one of several historical downtown restaurants that have helped bring downtown Navasota back to life. We chose this dining option as we wanted to take it back to the quiet environment of the B&B and eat amongst the beautiful home with it many inspiring works of art and beautiful furnishings throughout the home. In the early evening we went back to the downtown area to enjoy some of the bubbling nightlife of music and people watching. We then left the downtown area after visiting the beautifully renovated |P A Smith Hotel and the interesting speakeasy located on the second floor of the Hotel. For those history buffs that remember the Bonnie & Clyde era of crime , you would find the speakeasy very interesting. After returning to the B & B , we enjoyed the hot bath in the old claw foot soaking tub located in our room. We went to bed looking forward to a wonderful breakfast. Well, once again Carole did not disappoint as she exceeded our expectations with delicious hot breakfast fit for a king and queen. If you like art, you will really enjoy time just viewing numerous art pieces and / or listening to Carole as she shares some history on her beautiful home. She is also a very talented artist with her work displayed throughout the home as well. Many of the art pieces are for sale so you may just find a piece of art that you just cannot pass up. You will enjoy the quiet solitude of the “Parlor” located on the ground floor in case you want to read a book or meditate amongst the many historical elements within this home. We give Red Velvet Inn a 5 star rating for its attention to detail in providing a hospitable environment second to none. As a matter of fact, it will soon be announced that Red Velvet Inn and Art Gallery is being named |“ Best of the Brazos Valley B & B’s”|Quite an honor however, Carole exceeds the Mission Statement that she has committed to as shown on the table...
Read moreLike being welcomed into the home of a dear friend. Carole and Byron place amazing guest experience on next level. Carole communicated with us the week before our stay as I messaged her with ton of questions.
We arrived to covered parking as two spots are available based on first come. We were greeted at the front door and shown around before heading up to the Gold Room. The place is loaded with beautiful art and furnishings. We were surprised that in addition to our large bed a beautiful twin bed was in the room along with a sitting area with microwave and mini fridge. Their was a walk out balcony right outside our room door. The bathroom was beautiful with high end towels, lotions, shampoo etc.
We were in town for the Texas Birthday Bash. Byron dropped us off at the entry gate in their six passenger golf cart. He was amazing and provided recommendations for places to shop, drink and eat. That was the first of four free rides.
Breakfast was great and coffee was deliciously provided from a Veteran owned roaster. After we checked out they asked if they could take us to the downtown shops and then pick us up once we were done shopping. This was after we had already checked out and technically not their guest anymore. Who does this? They do this!
We will be back even though we live less than a hour away. Thank for inviting us into your home called The...
Read moreWhat a gem! I visited my daughter who attends the best darn college in Texas....Texas A&M...of course...and all the hotels in Texas were booked due to the football game, TAMU vs Tennessee. I was not about to pay $300 per night for a room at a hotel like the Quality Inn or Best Western. My timing was right.
Due to a last minute cancellation at the Red Velvet Inn I was able to get a room at this lovely establisment. This B&B is awesome. The house is very beautiful, homely, but not overly done up, and the host/owner is very friendly. Amenities are what make this Inn so wonderful...and the host. Bathroom and kitchen are well stocked and parking aplenty.
The rooms are bright, spacious, and the color tones are warm throughout the house.
Next, the town is so charming. The downtown area is about 4 blocks long with shops, a movie theater, and a playhouse. Reminds me of the song in Cheers, the TV series. I really would live to relocate to Navasota.
The town is 20 miles from College Station. Very easy and quick drive. I've been traveling to the BCS area since June to visit my daughter. From.now own, I will stay in Navasota at the Red Velvet Inn when visiting. I give this place 2 thumbs waaaay up and I highly recommend this place.
Did I mention the host/owner of the Inn, Denise, is sooooo cool? The Red Velvet Inn is...
