The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. If I could give a separate rating for them, I would give them five stars. Additionally, the guestroom was clean, and the bed was comfortable. I got a good night's sleep. Despite some reviews complaining about noise, I didn't notice any. My husband, our friends, and I were surprised by the "slightly more than continental breakfast." We had a short but pleasant stay despite any complaints I could muster up:||-Lack of parking- we found it unusual that a hotel of this size doesn't offer it's guests a lot or parking garage. We managed to find street parking around the corner but then were afraid we might lose our spot if we drove anywhere.|-There aren't any valet carts. It's probably because there's only so much you can put in your room anyway. We managed our luggage easily without one, so this is a minor complaint in the scheme of things.|-The room is incredibly small. It's very European-ish with the bed and barely room enough to walk around the bed. There isn't really anywhere to put your things, and I had to hoist my suitcase up onto the bed to get into it. There is a mini fridge, which I think is pretty much standard now, and the wall art was nice.|-The breakfast area is also small, but it is unattended, so the tables are not wiped down or the area cleaned between guests. |-I used a few thousand Wyndam points for our stay and still managed to pay at least 20% more than our friends did and any price in the same month as our stay on the availability calendar so I'm feeling a little ripped off.|-I got texted an emailed something to pre check in but had to do everything again...
Read moreThis is a good value hotel for technically being in NYC. When I booked, this was the cheapest nightly rate in all of NYC!
That being said, it’s not glamorous, the location isn’t anything fancy and the low price tag does attract some less than desirable clientele.
I had a very smooth check in process, found my room easily and everything was very clean. One of the first things I noticed though, was that the noise from the hallway echos incredibly loud and could be heard clearly in my room.
Due to the echoing issue, I was woken up several times by slamming doors in the hallway, people shouting and banging on doors, one woman was going around knocking on her groups doors at 6 in the morning.
She was very loud and inconsiderate. Then, she had a “panic attack” and was escorted out by stretcher and ambulance. The group she was with didn’t seem totally sane — hence my comment of the very cheap price tag attracting less than ideal clientele.
For one night, this place was fine. Made it through a-ok. The hotel staff were friendly and nice too - don’t want to fault them for the crazy lady in the hallway.
For more than one night stay, I’d consider a...
Read moreThis hotel was clean, and the rooms were perfect sized. That’s enough in my book! The area was safe though it seemed slightly sketchy at times (it was Heaven compared to Seattle, but if you’re coming from a small town just stay vigilant) and the ferry stop is very close. The only things I have to say are that the breakfast could be better, housekeeping was loud at night and infrequent, and one person who works the desk was rather rude to us when we first arrived (not just ‘NYC rude’ - legitimately rude). If you have any kind of schedule change or emergency before checking in, Get the Name of the Person You Speak To. I called before because we had a schedule change and I thought everything was fine - turns out they booked us as no shows! We got our room after some discussing. What’s the point of calling if you’re gonna book us as no shows anyway? But it was resolved. A good...
