Scenery was beautiful, I can with my troop in late February, we had no problem staying warm in the cabin. Signing in was easy except for the ranger on duty was a constant grouch, was very rough with people and when people needed to charge a device at the only outlet near the office he made a big fuss about it. We were told the roads were too narrow for any cars to go down, leading us to carry all of our personals to the cabin. Thankfully the Ranger was graceful enough to bring the trailer semi close to our cabin. Couldn’t find a single photo of the interior of any cabin, but when we got inside there was no ventilation for cooking, 1/4 burners on the stove worked, absolutely no electricity, and 1 window in the whole cabin was able to open. The bathrooms were decent, except there was no water in the sink and both spigots froze very easily with only 1 spigot having potable water. The paths around camp pouch are very nice, lots of animals, especially around the pond and lake. With some improvements and time fixing things I would consider...
Read moreI went with my scout troop to camp pouch this weekend. And had an alright time because only the archery range was opened. The facilities are sub-par and ill maintained. The cabin we rented out had no propane powered lights, covered in webs, and MOST IMPORTANTLY THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER WAS NOT PRESSURIZED & THERE WAS ONE MISSING!! IT WAS EVEN INSPECTED ON OCTOBER 2016, about a month ago. For a boy scout camp that does not allow ground fires and offers elevation platforms for said fires with holes in them, the only place we can build one is in the cabin. Also the whole cabin runs off propane: stoves, heaters, etc. Having said this, William H. Pouch scout camp has clearly VIOLATED OSHA Regulation 1910.157, and charged us an unreasonable $45 for the RANGERS FAILING TO MEET NATIONAL EMERGENCY STANDARDS & POSSIBLY JEOPARDIZING THE LIVES OF 20+ SCOUTS...
Read moreMisled about the expected state of the accommodations. Staying in an uninsulated cabin that was advertised as having heat and electricity. Wasn't expecting it to be the Taj Mahal, but the heat didn't even bring the temperature up above 40°F, and the electricity didn't work, as the circuit breaker kept tripping (without anything being plugged in or turned on). Outhouses had no toilet paper until we mentioned it. Aside from the toilet paper, no apologies, restitution or explanations for the disconnect between the description and the actual state...
