Everything here has decayed in quality over the last few years. From the customer service you get when you walk into the door to the selection of food at the breakfast buffet, Sunday River just wants to make that extra buck off you (one waffle - five dollars - and not even a please). The last time I stayed up at the hotel the security staff Ron profiled me based on how I look after he came to our room and was intimidating both my mother and father claiming that my father had smoked in the room. My 63 year old father had been going outside onto an unshuveled deck that we paid extra for so that he could go on the deck and smoke a cigarette as many who go to the hotel do. We were told by Ron that he could have us evicted if he continued to smoked outside. After returning from dinner our hotel door was locked and we went to the front desk to ask what was going on with key cards we were told that sometimes the locks have to be reset and to wait for security to let us in. After 20 minutes of waiting for there security my mother went back to the desk to find what was going on. They told her that she was being evicted and wouldn't even attempt to recommend a place to stay. They claimed someone has walked in the room and a guest was intimidated. The only people that were intimidated where my family by Ron Sunday River security staff who claimed he was an retired state police officer as he walked into a room. Meanwhile had my family been an actual threat my key card had still allowed me into the pool after no longer letting me into the room. Great security. Ron had nothing to say while my mother was sobbing because she's been coming to Sunday River since she was in college with my father and we would come here every year for a birthday for the last 4 or 5 years. Needless to say that won't be happening anymore. My family won't return to Sunday River as long as Ron remains on their security staff. It's very possible that my family will press charges against Sunday River for discrimination, and against Ron personally for slandering my family. I'd like to thank the sheriff who handled the situation as he place no blame on us. I am publicly asking director Mr. Trip Sunday River Public Safety to reconsider keeping Ron on the staff. Thank you for everyone that's taking the time to read this and decided to book their ski trip...
Read moreEverybody on the road trip stayed here for two nights Friday July 9th and Saturday July 10th. There is along and winding road going up to the main entrance of the Hotel . You can park on the side near the entrance for only 15 minutes while you check in. Then parking is in the rear of the building leading to all the rooms. When you walk into the lobby . You have a strong feeling of a sky large . When you check in there is a very high wall on your right side . If you look up . You will see old sky's in different colors in a Big circle . You really have to stand back to really appreciate it . The furniture in the lobby is very comfortable. To go to your room from the lobby you have to walk down a very long hallway . There are class windows that you can see the front and the rear of the Hotel . Then you turn right . And the elevators are right there to take you to your floor . They have a gift shop in the lobby . Just before you walk into the bar . They have greeters to ask you if you want to sit at the bar , or at a table . The bar is set up very nicely !" So is the dining room . It's set up to have a rustic feel and look . It does not disappoint !!" Its Very comfortable in the dining room . They go all out on there continental breakfast !!" Read moreWe have been visiting many of the top New England Ski Resorts and their on mountain hotels over the last two years. For those reading save yourself the money and don’t stay here. On checkin for a week - which was not vacation week- it was a mad house. Not a single valet to help with luggage - too few carts available - my wife and I had to carry all our luggage by hand to the 2nd floor. Not that we feel entitled to have someone do this for us - but it was a long way up flights of stairs- for a hotel that charges what they do it was ridiculous compared to the service you get at Stowe or Sugarbush at their on mountain hotels. The room they put us in was ok enough - but it was a lockout unit that had a connected deck with the unit next door. It also did not have adequate door and window shades for privacy. The people next door decided to sit on the deck right in front of our hotel room while we were trying to change after skiing. Very awkward, I even politely asked them if they’d move down away from our window - and they wouldn’t. The only good thing I can say is that they agreed to move us so we packed up again and moved units mid stay. They location is fine and the hotel would be great if the company that owns them had any clue about hospitality and what good service and accomidations looks like. The hotel is also very dated - it appears they are trying to refurbish. Sunday River is a fine mountain to ski. Just don’t stay and pay the premiums at Grand Summit - you don’t get what...
