Where can I start ..My room 1016 would never cool off. When they sent the "engineer" up (who smelled of alcohol or loves to rinse his mouth out with old fashioned Listerine), All he did was turn the fan on continuously and closed a vent (bathroom) to push air into one part of the room. It still did not work even after leaving the hotel room for the festival. We came back to a warm room that had an AC and fan still going continuously. In the bathroom the ceiling panel was damaged and condensation was dripping onto the floor from the ductwork to the AC unit because you can visually see the ductwork. Right by the mirror there was water damage. I think that they previously fixed it but did a horrible job. If you look on the 10th floor there's mold damage in the hallways for some reason I guess wallpaper is a good option but yet it's not a good option because it peels and the mold is still present. Back to my room... The bathroom shower pan ..maybe they can't do anything about this but the shower pan was still dirty looking. Keep in mind I did rinse it out and tried to wipe it down with my little Lysol spray. Some of the pictures youre going to see is my chat request for towels. I called down to the front desk 30 minutes prior to using the chat feature on the app. I eventually had to go downstairs and get the towels. Because I really wanted to go to bed. But that's my fault I should have asked for extra towels that morning I saw the housekeeping. I was under the impression the towels I was using the other night would be dry by the time that next evening came around, so I can reuse that towel. It may be important to note the vent that he closed off was to the bathroom therefore it was probably still humid in the bathroom and my towel could not dry.... I'm not a person that has to have a different towel everyday because I don't have a different towel every day at home. But I tend to take a shower every night and my towel is dry by the time I go to take a shower the next night (if you are a daytime shower person that is good for you. I am a night time shower person, I like to get into a bed clean). Now this part didn't happen to me this happened to my partner. He did show me so I wouldn't think he was crazy. There was a bolt that was raised up under the carpet in the middle of the room. He tripped over it. I for the grace of God did not step on it that entire stay but when I felt it it was really disturbing. That was later on in the evening, it was time for us to go to bed and I refuse to go back downstairs because there was nothing they can do about a bolt the sticking up under a carpet. And when I submitted this complaint they said they will send someone right up to fix it smh honey I'm...
Read moreNot sure where to begin, but my step-daughter & her hubby booked myself, my wife and both of them [party of 4] for an overnight stay at the Marriott in downtown Norfolk, VA. We got a room on the 6th floor for all 4 of us. My wife got sick, they had no blankets there despite us asking. Then, several times overnight, unknown people entered our LOCKED room thinking "it was their room". We kicked them out because we got the reservation for one night in the deluxe room on the 6th floor. Next morning when we checked out, my step-daughter took care of that part of the mess. She told us that some other lady orginally had the room for her and a few others, BUT she did not show up to pay for the room our party of 4 got instead....and we paid for that room because the other party did not pay and was a "NO SHOW". Somehow the idiot staff gave them the entry card for our room and illegally entered our room several times. That is PISS POOR service. Plus, NO Valet or Bellhop service. They had NO luggage cart for our 4 pieces of luggage because the front desk lady said "our carts are still in the rooms being used". I have better luck getting a luggage cart when I stay at lower priced hotels in worse areas. We did not eat there, so no comment on that. They had a shop of some sort with snacks, juices, pop and so on. But, we did not buy anything there as we were just there for an overnight stay. Location of this hotel was in what appears to be downtown Norfolk, Virginia and you can see some US Naval ships nearby. I know there is a heavy US Navy presence in the area due to naval bases nearby. So, you get some kind of view from your hotel room there, higher up you go in this hotel, the better the view you may get. Rooms were generally clean, beds made well and again generally clean....minus the bathroom....which could have been cleaner. Service there stunk badly.....like they did not know how to handle situations very much. We did not eat there, buy anything after getting there to get our hotel room which my step-daughter got for us. Hotel did not have a parking place and we had to park our vehicle 1 block from the hotel....holy moly, that's bad. There are other hotels nearby that maybe better for one or two nights while in town. Overall, I'd rate this place 2 of 5 stars. They say it's a 3-star hotel......not in my book. More 2 stars than 3 stars. If this hotel improves customer service, provide blankets in every room year round, improve hotel security and do something to improve their hotel check in & check out service....maybe this will make this hotel a legit...
Read moreSo much to share. I had a less than satisfactory experience at this hotel approx 18 months ago. Decided to give it another try. It definitely seems to be a property that is struggling with basic customer service and up-keep. So surprising for a full-service Marriott. The young woman that checked me in offered no greeting of any kind and no acknowledgement of my Bonvoy status. Handed me the room keys and that was it. My room smelled like cigarettes. Pushed the front desk button on the phone to inquire about changing rooms, but the button on the phone wasn’t programmed. Discovered none of the buttons on the phone were programmed. (Exact same issue 18 months ago.) So I called the hotel number listed on the phone, but it was the WRONG number. How do you put the wrong number for your own hotel on your own phone template? The number listed dialed a medical center. The area code on the phone was listed as 575. Probably should have been 757. Tried the phone near the elevator. It didn’t work. Made the trip back to the lobby and spoke with the same young woman that checked me in. Told her about the room and asked if another one was available. She literally just stared at me and didn’t answer. Mentioned the need for a phone that worked. She did respond with a “okay” but didn’t write anything down and phone wasn’t replaced. In addition, the charging station next to the bed didn’t work (neither the two outlets or two USB ports). No outlets available on the desk, so I had to charge everything in the front room area. There was only one remote for the two TVs. Also mentioned this to the young woman at the front desk. No additional remote was brought to the room. Lovely problem of using the remote in the bedroom would also turn the TV on in the front room. I discovered the handheld shower had almost completely fallen offer the wall. Took a picture as I couldn’t believe this type of thing wouldn’t be noticed or fixed. It’s hanging on for dear life. You can see the screw brackets are no longer anchored. The faucet in the bathroom sink needs tightening. Ordered in-room dining via my cell phone since the hotel phone didn’t work. After a 45 minute wait called again and they had forgotten about my order. This is almost the identical experience to my last stay. There are other full-service hotels in the area now owned by Marriott that provide a much better experience. I’ve spent over 1,100 nights in Marriott properties. This is easily the worst...
