Currently staying here right now and sitting on the couch. First, Sunrise Beach is a beautiful room with lots of space, modern bathroom and good kitchen/living room area. Could not have asked for better amenities.
However, by Day Two of this stay, I’ve already downgraded this place down but maybe more depending on the rest of my four night reservation...we shall see.
Day One: -found a dead spider in my dirty bathtub -hot water did not work -facilities maintenance had to come into our room around 9:30pm to “fix” the problem, aka turn the water heater on -they also admitted that no one had reserved this room for a long time... so, i guess the staff did not think to prepare the room before we got here????
Day Two: -found a living centipede in our bedroom; that’s ok, we killed it ourselves -some other guests stole our rocking chair from our front porch area -can literally HEAR the tenants above hold a conversation -some dude came UP to my window and STARED into the living room as i was sitting on the couch. At this point, i waved awkwardly at him *MOST CONCERNING: when i left the room between 12:30pm and 2:30pm, House cleaning came. It would have otherwise been a good event HOWEVER they had left the fan in the bathroom on because i found out that my perfume bottle was opened!?!? Half the bottle was gone, it was covered in perfume (i have day/night scents and the other one was not covered in perfume oil) and though my hotel room smells divine, why in the world would they feel the need to open it???? I’m not even sure at this point... so i called the front desk and alerted them and requested no more housecleaning.
The next couple days will probably be a whirlwind because I’m getting married but why they felt the need to go through my stuff like that still perplexes me.
I’m still hoping for the best.. However, for the $$$$$ we dropped to stay here over a Holiday weekend, I’m not so sure it’s worth it.
Tips: -Don’t leave ANYTHING valuable out: housecleaning will touch/move it, and although the wrap around windows are nice and it’s fairly a nice neighborhood, people can see inside easily -If you choose one of the bigger rooms, request an...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting with my family but it definitely won't be the last. Upon arrival, I did go past the entrance because it looks like a service entrance but found my way back around. The grounds were beautifully landscaped...from the palm trees, pink flower trees, and tropical (looking) flowers made for great pictures. Checking in was a breeze...I really appreciated the warm greeting from the ladies in the front office. I presented my identification, signed some documents, was given my keys as well as my beach/pool passes, and suggestions of local places to visit/eat at. I had a 2nd floor one bedroom unit that was lovely. From the moment I opened the door I could smell the unit was cleaned...great! I loved the wood floors, the window blinds, "kitchenette" (w/mini fridge, coffee maker & microwave), the subway tile & shower head in the bathroom, along with my bedroom (it was spacious and simply/nicely decorated). I loved the small touches from the stained glass lamps to the artwork (peacock portrait over the king size bed/the dragonfly tile piece in the shower/the butterfly over the sink in the "kitchenette"). This is a place to relax...if you're looking to "turn up", this isn't the place for you! I enjoyed a water aerobics class on Wednesday morning, the pool all afternoon as well as dinner at Ketch 22 (the restaurant on premises). There's also a mini mart across the road (next to the parking lot) that has EVERYTHING imaginable, so if you forget something, you most likely can find it there. From snacks, to liquor and odds/ends...they also have a full menu of food choices they cook until 9pm! We got breakfast there daily (served until noon) and everything was good! The private beach is a nice, relaxing touch but unfortunately it's jelly fish season so it was impossible to get in the water. The only downside to my stay were the few stains I noticed on the cushions of the pull out couch...other than that, everything was awesome! We'll...

We were there when it was cool in late fall so it was relatively quiet but probably not as much during the summer. Close to a little deli market for lunches, breakfasts & snacks. And a restaurant for dinner next door that was nice.
CONS (for us anyway): They play Fox News very prominently in the lobby (and no, it wasn't just one time at the request of a guest as they told me in response to my asking about it - it was EVERY time we went in the lobby for several days and there were no other guests in there), the staff doesn't wear masks even in a very tight small space in your face (neither do the housekeeping staff while IN your room cleaning), & proudly have vocal antivaxxers and antimaskers everywhere, including across the street at the deli where you park & get food & the restaurant next door. And as you walk around you WILL be glared at & mocked for wearing a mask by other guests. They couldn't give a shlt if you have an autoimmune disorder & would be wearing a mask even if COVID wasn't a thing. There was one group of guests there we literally were afraid would confront us directly and were drunk and scary two rooms down. As a minority couple we also had derogatory comments made behind our backs several times by other guests. Which maybe isn't the fault of the hotel BUT this is a place that happily plays Fox News in the lobby openly and ignores the science of masks during a pandemic, so... just realize this is one of those kind of places... for both...
