We have come to Denny Creek for over 41 years, it is a pleasant camp grounds with the creek running through it. Normally we grade it at 5 stars. However this year, it was shocking to see what poor condition the park is in, compared to previous years. The paths to the creek had not been cleared, the restrooms were in appalling condition as in the past they were always pristine. The chart on the bathroom wall stated the last time it was cleaned was a week previous to our visit. Against my better judgment I cleaned up paper when I used the facility. The hosts were not customer friendly. For example, we were walking along the creek on our second day of the visit, a teenager approached us and asked, "What is your name?" My adult granddaughter said, "I beg your pardon." She said again, What is your names and what are you doing here?" My granddaughter said, "Walking down the creek". We went on, we looked up again and I recognized the woman that had been sitting at the entry when we checked in, smoking a cigarette, and hollered over to the cars to ask, what we are doing etc, my daughter in the first car explained our reservations and purpose for the visit. So I said to her, "Yes?" ( realizing that the teenager that came upon us, must have been her teenage. The host went on about no day camping. I told her the number of our site. (The one we had paid 70.00 for plus 38.00 extra dollars for extra vehicles as it was a birthday campout. And booked for two night.) But honestly, I was shocked. I wanted to say, why don't you clean the bathrooms and clear the trails and paths! We know what their job description is, we had visited with the various hosts for over 40 years). The host never greeted us or introduced herself. We continued walking in the creek, she left after I told her our campsite. There were other meet-ups with the host over a birthday guest not parking in the park, so he moved his car. They sat in an empty camp spot watching us. Honestly it was not pleasant. 5 of us were camping and 4 came to celebrate the birthdays as we have always done year after year. The four left the park, leaving 5 to camp. Needless to say it was not our usual experience and indeed shocking. Please tell your hosts to introduce themselves, smile, and to clean the bathrooms daily. ( the toilet bowls, counters and floors were all dirty. As campers, we come here to get away and enjoy ourselves, we are not rowdy. We were very disappointed. The park gets 5 stars the hosts zero. The Park is off of I-90 and you can hear the cars on the highway, but we have always felt that the beauty of the site...

The highway noise is omnipresent for sure! That being said, the nearest fully featured grocery stores and shopping (for your food and gear needs at campsite) is far away. There are a couple of “grocers” about 3 miles away but they literally just sell hot dogs, bacon, bread, and cheese. My fault for not bringing all the food I needed. But yeah, besides the highway noise, the campground itself is excellent, scenic, and well maintained. I can’t speak for the share bathroom facilities, etc, but bringing my RV was a breeze and I even got a pull through spot with electricity. On that note, the water sources here don’t have traditional spigots, so either fill up before you come, or bring water cans you can fill up and then dump into your tank. There’s also this cool camco adapter you can get for this exact situation, but I lost mine so I don’t know if it would work on these specific spigots. They sell excellent firewood for a premium price, but it’s seasoned and very aromatic. There are some tent sites right on the creek, although I’m not sure if they are part of the campground or if people are just rogue camping there, so to speak. It’s actually a little concerning to me that people are camping feet away from the water. As I understand it, campfires can contaminate the ph balance of water sources. I also imagine some trash ends up in the water.
But just to reiterate the highway noise in my closing. It’s loud, like you need to speak to your fellow campers at a higher volume so you can be heard, and I’m in the dead center of the campground. The saving grace is that the noise is just white noise, you don’t hear individual cars whipping by nor do you hear trucks breaking or making the other noises they make. It definitely is kind of...
Read moreI'm going to start out with the fact we have been coming up camping for over 41 years. Denny holds great meaning to our family my brother's wedding was held literally on the river Infront of# 12. It's a spiritual place for us. We have always followed the rules and not once had issues with the camp hosts. If we had extra vehicles we have paid the fee and all was good. My family has celebrated my daughter's Birthday every year here. 34 years. Family comes on the Sunday to help celebrate. Yesterday at check in I talked with the host and explained they were coming and we would pay for the car. It was not a problem. ( I should point out we had already had the wife come to have us move the cars onto the cement slab off the dirt six inches.) Today my other brother also came for my daughter's. My 12 year olds bday is also the 22nd. So we had four cars total my brothers would have made the fifth and I was more then willing to pay the fee. She said no take it out to the main road, I want to state there was more then enough room for five vehicles. They also had their daughter asking people for their names down at the river. Saying that's part of the job. Anyone can walk down the river from the trail head. It makes no sense.
Apparently every camp host we have ever had did not do "the job' correctly or they had no problem with family's wanting to get together and enjoy the PNW in peace. I am extremely disappointed.
Hopefully next year will be better
The river and the forest never fail to please. It is a beautiful place to camp usually.
Like I said it's a beautiful place to spend...
