This really is the nightmare that the other reviews mention. I have been placed here by my company for a few weeks while I am working in town. When I checked in I was refused my rewards points because my "company does not pay enough for the room per night" The hotel is dirty is still undergoing cheap low-ball bid renovation (and it shows). The ceiling in my room is cracked with a water stain. The wall paper is stained. The other day I noticed that a stained cloth I threw on the floor was placed FOLDED BACK ON THE RACK! Days after arriving I started noticing bites on my legs and I had no idea where they were coming from. After returning from the work site a few days ago I sat on the bed and to take my shoes off and smudged dirt from my pant leg onto the sheet. I figured, oops, its life and left the cover down and slept in the other bed. My room has been made up 3 times since and the same sheets are still on the bed! All around, there seems to be poor management and it shows. The employees talk in the "restaurant" about how the delays are in the construction in the actual bar and restaurant and how it should in "July but now probably August". The food itself it is not meant to be fed to an animal. Some of the employees complain about the management while we wait because its so slow (even though we are usually the only people in there) and when it does come out its simply slop. The pub and eatery are both relocated into the conference room. The few menus they have never been cleaned and are all sticky, same with the tables. The prices are stupid high and it seems like everything has been sitting in the freezer for ages. Yesterday while the waitress' toddler ran around the tables and in and out of the kitchen she said that certain things they have on the menu are not available due to the fact the manager doesn't want to stock more than the minimums due to cost. Sounds and tastes like the they use every bit to serve whether it is good or spoiled. After dinner its back to work, on the computer, but the wifi is painfully slow and keeps dropping. I was forced to use my phone to post this review. When this is over I told my boss I would pay for myself to use another hotel when I had to come back to the area. It amazes me that rooms go for $99 during the week and $136 on the weekend and breakfast isn't even included! Its nowhere worth it! Management is cutting every corner they can but still charging premium! JUST RUN...
Read moreMy clothes were stolen from the laundry room last night during their cycle, and when I went to the front desk for camera surveillance, the GM was very late in her response to the girl working the front desk. She stopped responding all together and told the employee that she’s “with her family” and didn’t care to review footage for me to retrieve my laundry. Some hospitality for guests who literally pay your bills. This hotel is also known for having unsavory characters roaming the halls at night. Not a safe space for your children.
In response to the owner's response, you did not address my complaint at all. You were made aware last night that my clothes were swapped DURING their wash cycle, not sitting there once they were done. I literally came the moment my timer went off for my clothes and someone had already removed my clothes and put more in the washer. You didn't address the fact that you were taking too long to respond, and that you stopped responding altogether to then tell your employee that you were with your family. I understand I left my clothes unattended, but you hindered me figuring out who did it. It would've been a simple tracking of whoever took the clothes and what room they went to. I could've called the police and had them knock to retrieve my things. Luckily, whoever swapped them brought them back. But what if they didn't? Yes, I left them. But if you're gonna help, don't stop responding halfway through the process. The whole comment about the towels and the service was irrelevant and the issue I have isn't with the hotel staff, it's with...
Read moreI drove up to Chicago from the southwest side of Indianapolis for Labor Day weekend to go to a show. Hotel prices inside Chicago are ridiculous, so I decided to book with Best Western in Hammond, IN since it was only about 35 minutes from the show, and the price wasn’t nearly as much as inside the city (I paid $180 for a single person room with King bed). I requested a room on the end, and my request was met.
Check-in was all okay. Staff were friendly and informative. They do have a $100 credit hold that stays on your card until they check your room for damages, and then it falls off. I think this is fairly standard practice for most hotels anymore though.
A major selling point for me when I choose a hotel is whether or not they offer a continental breakfast. I like to wake up early and get some hot food first thing in the morning. Therein lies my only complaint with this hotel, and the reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5…I got up at 7:30 and went down to the restaurant area, just in time to get the last cold biscuit with gravy, and some lukewarm potatoes O’Brien that tasted freezer burnt (breakfast began at 7, so it shouldn’t have been that cold). There were no eggs or breakfast meats available, and hardly any fruit choices. They had waffle and pancake makers caked with burned batter set out for guests to make their own, but I was hoping for some bacon and eggs or at least a banana. Slightly disappointing.
Overall I would recommend staying here, and will likely stay here again myself. I think for the area, it’s one of the nicer...
