Right past Winthrop is a cute spot, with a good locale, the River Run Inn. Decided to stay one extra night since there were more things we wanted to do while in town. It was a bit steep for a Monday evening, totaling $211 with taxes. Upon driving in, on the left hand side was an eyesore, reminiscent of the Texas Chainsaw massacre with car parts strewn all over the lawn, a bit eery. Maybe that's where you end up if you don't pay!
The manager on duty was very polite, and let us check in a couple hours earlier than their normal check in. The maids were still cleaning the room when we arrived. They only allow one person at a time at the hotel desk so they abide by COVID rules. Every employee we came across wore masks. We stayed in the main building up on the second floor.
Enter room. Very clean. On the left is a closet with permanent hangers and a vanity with soaps and lotions (beware the soap does not foam at all, was it really soap?), and then the bathroom. Lots of towels. In the room straight ahead is a loveseat and and A/C unit that works very well. There were two queen beds with that cute "you're on the river" bed posts. Quilted blankets for that homey feel. Pretty sure they aren't cleaning the quilts between guests though, didn't smell fresh. Pillows were comfy. Beds were firm, but I found it quite comfortable. They supply a mini fridge and a microwave and a coffee station. There is a tv, but it's about the size of a laptop monitor, pretty small. Normally they have a place where you can borrow DVD's to watch or board games to play, but during COVID, they are not doing that.
The best part of the Inn is that our patio overlooked the River, which is very relaxing. The screen door fell off the tracks multiple times so I decided to just leave it parked at an angle outside the sliding glass door. They provided a citronella candle (nice touch) in case you didn't want to experience mosquito genocide. Not relaxing was the giant tree being escavated within our front view, and was loud, ruining an otherwise perfect view of the water. Before dinner, we laid out in the hammock and got some shut eye. After dinner we came back, as I had reserved an hour (they allow you to sign yourself up on a sheet outside the indoor pool on premises) for the pool and the hot tub. Beware, the hot tub.... it's hot. Burned my keister. :P The wi-fi was somewhat slow and made it somewhat difficult to plan the next days adventures. We still managed to get a decent nights sleep, and check out was...
Read moreGood location easy to walk into town. Room was clean a little dated though. Tv was small and outdated too. The best thing was honestly the pool, and lotions, soaps and coffee they provided. There was a tad too many signs on what to do. Like don’t swim in chlorine too long was a tad overkill. It felt like I had a mother telling me what to do. Our bed in room 17 was absolutely awful. I told staff the bed was awful and they nicely offered to switch rooms but who’s to say another bed is better? Plus moving all our cooler stuff sounded like a pain. I sleep like a rock and I woke up like every couple hours. You could feel the springs poking into your back. Both me and my boyfriend wanted to leave asap cuz our backs were so sore. Kind of ruined the stay now that I think about how tired we were in Winthrop. Id rather have nicer beds than nicer soaps honestly. Also the room had no table outside on the back porch or by the sofa bed to set your coffee? Kind of weird there was no side tables except by the bed. Overall pretty clean but honestly the motel we stayed in chelan was cleaner comfier and cheaper. This place gives a hippy vibe so the landscaping was nice but honestly there was too much grass for “eco friendly” vibes. I’d love to see fruit trees in the front for guests to pick for free and you could charge drive by people to pick. Really anything would be better than all the extra grass in the front. The grass is already watered there so it’s not an “extra” expense really. Also there was no lights outside for strolling the property at nigh? The pressure on the shower sinks was also odd. One was to hard the other was too soft. The shower heads could use cleaning or replacing for better pressure. Overall it was quaint but the bed really ruined it for us. We tried switching to the sleeper sofa the next night but that was odd to sleep on too. It had a huge bar in the middle so you couldn’t even lay comfortably on...
Read moreIf staying on the bottom floor there is a potential of dealing with stumping rolling and vacuuming above I personally can't deal with poor insulation and people stumping and rolling things around and whatever else is happening up there. After we left, the manager did follow up and profusely apologized for not addressing it during my stay and offered to make it up to us, which in my book goes a long way (even the fact that someone followed up) and I will be coming back regardless, but if you're a sensitive to noise person like me , it's something to keep in mind and booking farther in advance would would work well. Absolutely pros- Location and views are gorgeous, proximity to town. Was warm and lights turned on when we checked in around 8 o'clock. Pool with jacuzzi open. Plenty of parking. Allow dogs. When I called about check in prior to check in someone called me back within a few hours. Employees are super nice. Would Absolutely stay there again in a cabin or One level building. My daughter also loved swinging on the swings that can hold her AND an "overnurished" adult :) just fine. Note to dog owners, neighbors few houses down have barking dogs off leash, I m glad I didn't walk my dane down that road (main road to the town ) as the dogs ran up to me and started barking and I had to yell at them for a few minutes to make them run back home. Not dangerous to humans and not a hotel issue, but just fyi if you take your...
