Winthrop Emporium — Local services in Winthrop

Yesterday it was 80 degrees outside so I went in and had a backpack because I was hiking then I stacked up some candy for my trip and the guy was watching me the whole time it creeped me out so I started walking around the store some more then the guy told me that I should leave if I wasn’t gonna buy something bc there are better customers that needed to come in so I told the guy I was gonna get something he shook his head like he understood then I pretend to call someone bc he kept freaking me out. As soon as i got to the uno card he said THATS IT GET OUT NOW AND DONT COME BACK! So I give this place a 1 star just warning yall to choose your stuff fast unless you wanna get kicked out for looking...

Our one bad experience in Winthrop. We were greeted with a very sharp "Can I help you?" as we walked in. It felt like we were being accused of something and were certainly not welcome in this shop. We're middle aged, clean and well dressed. Our experience in this store was the opposite of the friendly welcome we received in every other store in town. What a missed opportunity. The storefront is so cute and inviting… but inside the store is another story. I briefly walked through and felt dirty. It greatly needs a facelift. I don’t think a penny has gone into it since 1970. It has basic goods if needed. I saw a couple buying ice cream. It has a basement … don’t go down there! Waste of time. Outdated merchandise.
