Beware of the Turquoise Place. Beware of Deb, the draconian customer service manager. We stayed the weekend of Sand in My Boots mid May. It was a lovely family vacation in a 3BR, 3BA condo on the 22nd floor. We received checkout instructions by email and on the App that included putting dishes in the dishwasher, place towels on the floor and take out the trash. What Spectrum failed to list in any of their instructions is that when you walk out of your condo at 10am, you are supposed to leave the property. We put our luggage in the car and headed for the beach and pool. I made the mistake of stopping by the front desk to ask about my daughter's parking pass. When Deb heard we had checked out, she became hostile and said you have to leave the grounds/amenities if you are checked out. I have never heard of not being able to enjoy our last day at the beach on the property we had paid two nights for and it's expensive! You would think that Deb is some lower level front desk staff and not the actual customer service representative. She needs advanced customer service training and or a stay at a Ritz so she can learn true customer service. Spectrum is wrong in not posting anywhere in the reservation or check out instructions that you have to leave the property upon check out. I can understand moving out of the numbered space to a "free" parking space. We didn't even get to go down the slide. The property was not busy. Why couldn't we spend our money buying drinks/food at the pool or renting chairs on the beach? Deb informed us that this was an HOA policy. Fine. Then list this information publicly so we know. In previous complaints, Deb is called out. Management responded that there is a "no aggression" policy. If I were Deb, I would apologize profusely and let people know that this is an HOA policy. I would be able to pull out the documents that clearly state this HOA policy and how we as consumers had been previously informed. But....maybe the HOA and Spectrum does not want to advertise that any high paying guest cannot stay on the property and spend more money. I think that there are several other resorts in the Turquoise category like Caribe and the Perdido Beach Club that are more hospitable and friendly. Deb has been called out in previous complaints concerning Spectrum's "no aggression" policy. I called her obnoxious so she called the Orange Beach Police. I am a 55 year old woman staying in a condo with a 45 year old girlfriend, my boyfriend and several teenage girls. Instead of interrupting the policemen's coffee and doughnuts at 10:30AM, it would have been perfectly ok for in-house security or even maintenance to escort me to my car. We were simply waiting in the lobby for one of the girl's mom to come pick her up. Deb, you must have PTSD to behave so badly. Add this complaint to all the others. Maybe your management or the HOA will take notice that something has to change so unsuspecting renters are not blindsided by your policies and your hostility. Post the policies clearly. Future renters, if you plan to hang out the day of your checkout, avoid the front desk at all cost. We had armbands. Let's hope Spectrum would be too embarrassed to hunt people down at the pool or the beach. If I had not stopped at the front desk to check on the parking pass, we would have had a fabulous end to a fabulous weekend. Instead we came face to face with Deb, customer service nightmare, and two very kind Orange Beach policemen who got to go home and tell their wives that they escorted two middle aged disorderly women and 3 teenage girls to their car because Deb is a horrible person and should not be trusted to diffuse a very...
Read moreThis place is a solid 4 star, due to the fact, this place has NO locks on the bathroom in shared rooms, including the closets. Only 2 master bedrooms have locks, and one bathroom in the hallway. Today I was taking a massive dump, sitting on my phone peacefully, and my cousin bombards in throwing THREE spoons at me, kept opening and closing the door, threw urinated covered towels at me, that we had to use because of the lack of toilet paper. We had to buy our own toilet paper on our expensive trip. Also there are alien bugs that look like they just landed from mars, there are dragonflies everywhere, to the point where you can’t sit outside without a dragonfly flying into your drink. Today I walked outside after leaving my drink on the table, which I think could be trustworthy because were in a 4.7 star hotel, but no, I walk back outside to 3 alien bugs in my drink slurping away, and their buddy dragonfly is dead on the floor because he drank too much, it had about looked like a teenager had a frat party with 2 lord farquads and 8 papa smurfs. Did I forget to mention the doors don’t properly close? This is 30th floor, the least you can think, is that would have good closing doors, but you’re wrong. When my cousin walked in on me taking a big fat chunky dump, it was because we had no locks and the doors wouldn’t shut properly, usually if a lock doesn’t work , i would open a drawer and make sure it jammed the door, but no, not in this case, because the drawers weren’t facing that way. The receptionists are very rude, every time you walk past the front desk, they stare into your soul like your head is sideways, no greetings, nothing nice, just funny business, it would be nice if the receptionists made as much happiness as they do money, get your funny up not your money up. The air conditioner was not working at all for the first 2 days, It said service needed, It felt like a witches butt after Taco Bell on a Friday night in our hotel. My cousins kept farting and it wouldn’t go away because the air conditioning was broken! Also, this is probably my fault, but there were no hangers provided, there was maybe only 4, but is that enough for my dinosaur costume? this confused me very much because this place is so expensive, I should not have to pay $5 for a stinky snow cone that melts after 5 minutes, is 5 our lucky number? Because there were only 5 pillows on my bed, I should have 10 pillows on my bed because i’m the best. I feel like I would slip and die in these elevators because they are so slippery, the noise activates paranoia from the elevators, if i’m going to die in an elevator, can you at least play some music? I completely forget to mention that the hot-tub guy had absolutely no idea what he was doing, I feel like I could’ve fixed it faster than him and I’m not a plumber. I’m a minimum wage Taco Bell manager that should not be treated like this. The best thing was the taffy at the front desk, yummy stuff, this is awesome, It’s the best thing in the hotel, many flavors melting on my tongue, blue taffy is sooooo scrumptioulicious, I really wish they had brown taffy though. They let me have the whooooollleee bowl. This place was amazing, and i’m only giving a 4 star because of the taffy, i would’ve been a solid 2 without the taffy. The discrimination on this review is mostly a joke, please don’t harass me or my family about this review. Get your funny up, not your...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I had a terrible time with the security of the hotel. We arrived to the hotel late Monday night so we just parked in a spot so we could get some rest. Our other family had already taken up the one parking spot for the hotel. The next morning we head to the security booth to ask what we need to do about our situation we were informed by a security guard that we could park in an unmarked parking spot and so that’s exactly what we did. He had a note left on this windshield the next day but we didn’t think anything of it knowing we were doing exactly what we were suppose to be doing. The following day we come out to find our truck had been booted. We then called security and they told us we had to pay $50 to remove the boot. My boyfriend and I head down to the security booth to explain our situation and GARY the security guard completely blew us off. He was messing with his phone, papers, his ear piece, etc. My boyfriend and I are in our early 20’s so I really felt like he wasn’t taking our situation seriously. So lucky we had older family members with us to was able to go down and talk to YOLANDA who apparently is the manager. GARY had called YOLANDA when we were trying to explain our situation and he seriously said on the phone with her “hey so I was just checking this boot on this Toyota truck is final” then he turns to us and goes “yeah she said it’s final” well obviously she’s going to say it’s final. So our older family member goes down to the front and explains our situation and he mentions my boyfriend is an Alabama State Trooper (which he didn’t want to tell anyone because he didn’t want special treatment) once YOLANDA heard he was a state trooper the boot was removed. So once we get our boot off we head down to the front desk to find out where we need to park and we’re told we have to park two blocks down because “we don’t have any open parks” I tried telling the girl we were already parked in a spot and she told me we would have to move it. So we did, Because honestly we didn’t want any trouble. So we park two blocks away and we walk back to our hotel and as we walk in we hear “EXCUSE ME” we turn around to see no other than YOLANDA chasing us down. She walks up to us and asks “do y’all stay here?” We told her yes and she was like “well I’m just checking because I saw y’all walking along the road” well duh we’re gonna walk along the road WE HAD TO PARK TWO BLOCKS DOWN BECAUSE THE PARKING SPOTS WERE “FULL”. At this point I’m ready to explode, but my boyfriend didn’t want to cause a seen so I stayed calm. It was extremely aggravating being treated like children who had no idea what we were doing. Our family paid very very good money to stay in that nice place which was BEAUTIFUL. I just know if we had not had someone older to help with our situation we would have been treated very wrongly. I feel YOLANDA and GARY both were very rude and not helpful at all. Would we stay there again? Probably not due solely for the security personal. Very rude and I hate that because the place itself was beautiful, but the way we were treated made it a very hard time to have a...
