I hate leaving bad reviews, however I was not overly impressed with our stay. We were in town for a funeral and I was traveling with my 4 children (ages ranging from 1-14), upon arrival had to walk back up to the front desk (because they didn't answer the room phone) and request they come clean the fecal matter out of the toilet (which I assume would probably means the whole bathroom wasnt cleaned) they did clean it and state they left a note for the manager. I let it slide and didn't throw a fit because I emotionally was freaking with allot of other stuff. But if I'm being honest I'm pretty irritated there was no discount applied to my room cuz that's pretty disgusting and honestly would be hard to miss if it were cleaned properly. I felt bad my children had spilt cereal and after for a broom and cleaned it up my self and left a good to for housekeeping for the messed. On another note, rooms are decent size however the TVs are not adequate size for the distance from the bed making it very difficult for blind people like myself to see. Beds were okay pillows were fluffy but not overly firm. There was also a weird light switch right inside the door that we could not figure out what it controlled when we went into the room I thought it controlled the lights but apparently it didn't. And to be honest I wasn't overly thrilled with the functionality of the microwave either as a parent who had to warm bottles twice in one night. The key card slider door knobs to the room are frustrating and awkward. Decent variety of things to choose from for breakfast. Pulling hot tub were fine with adequate amount of towels in the pool area. Staff were pleasant. Location of hotel is beneficial as it's right next to a Walmart and a gas station that has Arby's. It is close to the train tracks so if you're not used to that noise it could be unpleasant. Located near interstate ramps.
All in all decent hotel and staff but I would have appriciated a discount for the poopy toilet
Update to owners response: there was no offer made to switch rooms so I'm sorry that you received that misinformation, I requested that the toilet be cleaned and the lady said she would be right down to do it, No other offers were made, I think a discount on a $120 some bill would have been a great solution. Even mentioned it when I checked out and no discount...
Read moreThe staff is absolutely wonderful! From the staff at the front desk to the ladies in house keeping. We were welcomed by Jeff at the front desk when we arrived late in the evening, and he was extremely pleasant. Jet, one of the managers on duty during the day, went above and beyond to make our stay a very pleasant one, she was so very kind and has the sweetest personality. I had asked to switch rooms the second day we were there due to the fact I have bad knees and our room was upstairs. I thought I could handle going up and down the stairs, but it got to be too much for me. Jet had absolutely no problem changing our room to a handicap accessible room downstairs, and when it came time to move all our belongings she was right there helping out. Stephanie which is head of housekeeping, was often up at the front desk and she too, was very sweet and helpful. One of the ladies in house keeping by the name of Brenda always greeted me with a smile and a good morning. All in all if you’re ever in Iowa and passing through Osceola, I highly recommend staying at the AmericInn, you will not be...
Read moreI have bad knees so when I booked a month ago I asked for a ground level room. She apologized and said second floor was all they had other than a handicapped room. bed was just too small for my wife and I so we struggled to get all our stuff upstairs. I was asked if I wanted to wait till we leave for room cleaning or as needed. I asked for every day so we have clean towels. It didn’t happen. Hot breakfast was Luke warm gravy and refrigerated biscuits that needed microwaved. Outlets in the room are so worn out the phone charger fell out so we draped the cords up over the lamps. I struggle to say anything good about this place. The room heater and AC either freezes us at night slow bakes us, no happy medium. Unfortunately we are here for 7 nights.
UPDATE The girl at the front desk got us a room on the ground floor which was fantastic! The heater system in the new room confirmed to me that there was a problem with the one in 203. Very even temperature in the room. We still aren’t getting service in our room unless...
