This is not, nor does it claim to be a 5 Star hotel but I gave it 5 stars across the board! I spent the last 2 weeks in the Oxford, MS location and could not be more pleased! Could I pick it apart? Of course but considering the price point and everything I really appreciated about the staff/facility/location, I have zero complaints. I would definitely stay there again. I was there for a temporary work assignment in the Oxford area and our travel coordinator booked my accommodations. I accessed the workout room for exercise which had the free washers and dryers in an adjacent room, making it easy to do my laundry while I exercised. They kept a large tier of fresh apples on the reception counter every day which was a great walk-by-grab-one snack. Fresh coffee dispensers were filled 24/7 and the main entrance lounge area was a great place for an afternoon snack, coffee and/or watch one the four wall-mounted TVs in the lounge/breakfast area. I even ate a couple of waffles a couple of mornings and omelets the same. The room set-up was the perfect size for my office equipment without impacting/imposing on my free-time, lounging space in my room. The bed/mattress was very comfortable and I slept just as soundly there as I do at home. My room was on the fourth floor and seldom did I even hear the closing of a door of another adjacent room. Next to the hotel within 30yds was a Marcos Pizza and a First Watch restaurant. A new Booths BBQ was under construction and set for a spring 2024 opening, which is approximately 50yds from the hotel. Once you get on the main road in front of the hotel (Lamar) it’s a straight, 5minute drive to the downtown square (lots of great restaurants and boutique shops). There are several pickleball opportunities in Oxford. I played multiple times (FREE) at a nice, in indoor facility that was approximately 1.4miles from the hotel at Oxford Park Commission (400 Price ST). I could elaborate further on other aspects of my stay but this is a Review and NOT a novel....
Read moreWe stayed with Home2 less than one year ago and at this time, it was a completely different experience, a much better experience. The property seemed much better taken care of than our visit this May 2023. During this visit, we stayed for 5 nights. We chose to pay a little more than other properties in the area that offered a suite with kitchenette for this property because of the outdoor amenities (grill and pool). Unfortunately, when we checked in, we were told this area was under renovations, which was very disappointing, especially since no renovations were even taking place during our stay. When we got up to our room, it was already midnight and we found the place to be highly dissatisfactory. The floors were slippery when we crossed them into the room. It felt as if soap were on the floors, our bags left marks across the floor as we rolled in. There were hairs on the bathroom floor and inside the shower. There were blood stains on the wall around the garbage can in the bathroom. The sink soap dish had a ring in it from previous soap. We called the front desk to request housekeeping for that morning. They came by, but things were no better. Later, we noticed there was stickiness all over cloth couch which also had stains all over it. The night before checkout, we requested another room cleaning as we needed more towels. When we returned to the room that night, the room had no been cleaned and we had to fetch our own towels. Only good thing I can say about this hotel currently is that the beds are super soft and comfy. Sadly, we will not be staying here again; although, the location is a great distance to the square and getting to Chicory Market for local food and gluten-free snacks. There's also a great outdoor eating/hang out area in walking distance now called Lamar Yard that is a great perk for this...
