We love the town of Oxford. It is a beautiful and peaceful place with little going on. We have stayed at the historic Robert Morris Inn twice a year (two night stays) for a number of years. Just recently it changed ownership and was working through a dining transition at the time we looked to reserve. Not willing to give up our Oxford visit we decided to test the Oxford Inn on the same main street about a mile distant. It was NOT a mistake. The owners, Scott and Jeanne, were terrific hosts. We stayed in Tavern Hall - a most comfortable room with four large windows. We had two breakfasts and one dinner there. The food was excellent. I said at the outset that there was little going on in town. But that "little" is very good. Excellent food at both the in-town inns. Lively taverns. The Scottish Creamery has some of the best ice cream ever. And there is a general store that has a full wine selection, gourmet foods and great sandwiches. We shared their turkey BLT sub and bottle of wine on the Oxford Inn's charming front porch across from the marina. It was a great lunch (as was the nap immediately thereafter).|In conclusion, you have two very good options for a stay in Oxford. You can do RMI if you prefer more of an inn experience. The Oxford Inn, with attentive owners, is more like a B&B.|We're anxiosly awaiting the enhancements to RMI. But our next stay is with the folks at the Oxford Inn. Based on our overwhemingly positive experience, they...
Read moreIf you are lucky enough to experience Oxford Maryland and need a place to stay, look no further than Oxford Inn. The husband and wife owners are welcoming and handle all check-ins. They were flexible when we missed check in (they also run the attached restaurant and check in ends when dinner service begins), but Jeanne checked us in and walked us to our room without making us feel like we missed check-in at all. The rooms are uniquely decorated and cozy (we stayed in the Waverly) with a private bathroom. We loved the in-room Keurig and found the furniture to be beautiful and different. We appreciated the lack of television in the room too (we normally don't watch TV on these trips anyway and we were happy to have the extra surface space). Breakfast is served in the adjoining restaurant and is fantastic. We ate the full breakfast on the weekend, and chose the Chef's Choice option each time. We were not disappointed! We definitely plan to stay here again and hopefully will have time to eat dinner in the restaurant (Pope's...
Read moreTidy, quaint historic inn. As with many old inns, there is narrow staircase and no elevator, and a limited number of electrical outlets for charging devices. Our second floor room ("Choptank") was perfectly-sized, with comfortable bed, large dresser and two chairs. Bathroom tiny but functional; DO read the instructions on how to turn on the shower! Innkeeper was on point, and terrific.|Included breakfast was fresh, and right-sized.|Only area of concern: there is no closet. There is a narrow hat rack; putting our hangers with formal clothes on it then blocked access to the bathroom. On that rainy weekend, we ended up with wet coats hanging over the backs of the chairs, or in the shower. A wall-mounted rack of hooks should be able to fit on the wall behind the entry door, and would have been welcome. Parking is in a crushed-stone public lot across the side street. Street noise could be heard during the day, but after sundown was...
