This location is near railroad tracks and a shady neighborhood, not family friendly! No cell service for Verizon. Nearby is warehouses and agriculture so there were a lot of business type men here for work/projects. Great area for authentic Mexican food, as the consulate is close by but the locals weren’t too friendly. Beach is within driving distance. That being said, we were here on a work related trip and Noon had difficulties confirming our trip and tried to switch us to 1 king when we needed 2 queens and then had trouble verifying when we got there. It was a pain. He did let us check in a little early however and that was nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable, albeit small. We had to switch downstairs because the bathroom got locked and there was nothing the front desk could do about it. I can’t say much about the pool as it was always too cold, even in August (the area is known for its marine layer) and the tiny spa was full of men so I didn’t feel comfortable. The breakfast was intriguing — they have a “pancake robot” as my son called it and the fake eggs were decent as well as the selection of juice and dry goods. It was crowded though, like I said, lots of men in town for business. I wouldn’t bring a family to this location for a beach holiday if that’s what you’re after. I kept the doors and my personal belongings locked up and was glad to have AC and a comfortable bed for our short stay. It...
Read moreIt’s a bit of a mirage , on the photos out looks clean and spacious. It is actually is very run down , small, dingy , and dirty. Elevator was filthy with broken fixtures. Carpets were worn and dirt , the seats in the second floor has marks all over as well as the walls plus it just over looked dirty overhang with dirty windows. Room was nothing to write home about. Lamp shades were broken , no water water bottles , no coffee cups , tub was dingy. Our toilet stop flushing and we had to put water in the tank to make it flush. They also charged ten dollars which wasn’t mentioned upon booking. pool was not heated and dirty , you could see liner in the drain full of gunk dragging into the pool . Felt so slimy . No towels at the pool had to track down a maid . It’s close to the beach so if that’s all you’re looking for then it’s fine . Food was hospital quality at best . Kitchen staff was very nice . Would not stay here again , wish we would have stayed at another hotel across the street that was cleaner and had more outdoor space to relax at . The hotel really needs to be deep cleaned and...
Read moreI had nothing but a bad experience with this stay which I usually don´t experience at a Best Western Hotel. I have booked a Suite - King. I was given a standard 2 bed room. Not even a suite. When I got back to the reception I was told, sorry someone should have contacted you but the original quote is not correct so we had to put you in a room that is equivalent to what your paying! Imagine my surprise with an answer like that. Needless to say noone contacted me prior to my stay about this. After a 15 hour journey I had no stamina left to argue further as at that point I have asked for alternatives which i was not given. As an elite member I was not offered the extra points nor the welcome/thank you box that I usually receive when chekin-in at a Best Western Hotel. I had several stays at Best Western after this unpleasant experience that thankfully restored my faith in this chain. I´m a afraid to say but this BW Oxnard Inn is not worth...
