We've stayed here multiple times the past several years. And typically I've been more impressed than I currently am based on our most recent visit. We used a TENT site on this recent trip.
Pros: as always The size of the tent spot was adequate for 2 average sized tents. -ground is all sand, relatively free of rocks -small boundry wall is nice to have -charcoal grill at each site -picnic table at each site -tree or some form of shade at each site
Cons: -site had garbage left in it (not a lot but still it should have been picked up prior to our arrival) ex. Water bottle lids, tags off items, used dental floss (Eww!), eggs shells around table. It would have been nice if the previous guests had just been more responsible and picked up their own garbage...but when they don't it's the responsibility of the management to ensure their sites are clean and ready for the next guest.
GENERAL Pros: -amenities offered, showers, pool, laundry *although I can't comment on the quality of the pool or laundry facilities as we've never used them. -decent layout in terms of placement of sites and width of roads/parking
Cons: CLEANLINESS of the women's bathroom was my biggest issue this trip. The campground was sold out so I understand there were a lot of people, but some of the issues I felt should have been addressed more frequently by the staff. the mesh sink drains had gelatinous blood in them, balls of hair in various areas of the room, paper/hygiene product waste on shower floor. It's hard enough to share a bathroom with dozens of strangers and their various personal germs/habits but I feel more frequent checks by the staff could help lessen these issues. Also, people if you spit (or whatever else) bloody body fluids in a public sink CLEAN IT OUT, Be careful that you don't leave behind paper products etc. In the showers. Let's be more courteous. And the bathroom is in absolute need of a floor to ceiling bleach/scouring job and a fresh coat of paint wouldn't hurt.
We will still likely try this campground again in the future, but I'm hoping these issues are addressed, or we will need to reconsider our lodging accommodations...
Read moreI only gave a 1 star because it would not let me post unless I put at least 1 star. I called on Tuesday May 21 around 11am to reserve a tent site after checking on line the campsite & we decided to reserve a spot & paid $40. We made it to the campground about 6pm. The office was closed & there was a letter on the office door stating to go to one of the trailers on the edge of the site to confirm. My brother & brother in law went to the trailer with me since I was a little nervous about going alone. The owner or manager came to the door & I had to sign the paperwork. We went to the campsite & was very very disappointed. 1st of all it did not look like the pictures online. 2nd the "short" wall for privacy is maybe a foot so basically no privacy. The space for the tent was very small. The tree in the campsite was small & had a pool of water around it & ropes keeping the tree straight. The camper right next to us which was extremely close had his radio blaring. We didn't see the other camper on the other side. Both the campers on either side of us parked on the low side of the campsite but they were parked hortizontally to the campsite. We couldn't even get 1 car backed into the spot for fear of hitting 1 of the 2 cars. On the other end of the campsite the wall is very high & I suppose that would be another parking spot but you couldn't even look over that wall let alone park there & bring your camping equipment to the site. The area for the campsite was sand & none of us was happy about putting our tents on sand which would get all over everything. We were totally unhappy about the whole campsite experience. My brother ended up driving around the area to see if there were other RV/campsites available while the rest of us waited at the closed office area. Since he could not find any sites close to us, we loaded back in the cars & drove to a hotel. FYI ....this campsite may be ok for some but for us it was definitely not what we expected. I did not even try to get my money back. We just left! VERY...
Read moreI am a woman traveling solo and staying at site #T125. My tent is located between my car and the picnic table. The opening of my tent is facing south towards the buildings of the adjacent business and away from campground office. Earlier tonight a man walked through my campsite right between my tent and the picnic table and looked inside my tent. My tent site is on the southern edge of the property and isn't a shortcut to anywhere. I zipped up the rain fly on my tent for privacy even though it was hot. Later, the man returned with another man who both walked through my campsite again and hung around right outside my tent talking. My guess is they thought it would be fun to look inside my tent again. As a woman I felt extremely threatened. They sounded foreign and were speaking Polish or an Eastern European language. I plan to call the police if they show up again. Management needs to give all guests a list of rules for camp etiquette. Clearly, some guests don't know that you CANNOT walk into someone's campsite and look inside their tent!! Now I can't sleep. I am scared and hope these men don't come back.
Response to management: I couldn't bring this to your attention first because it took place around 10 pm when no one was in the office. My only option was to call the police if the men came back. I'm sorry but this is a matter of personal safety so I'd still write the same review. In busy national parks campgrounds like Mather Campground at Grand Canyon National Park an NPS law enforcement officer drives a patrol car through the campground periodically. Maybe if you offered a 24 hour phone number to call for emergencies like mine instead of just telling guests to call the cops? At least those perpetrators will know that Page Lake Powell management takes criminal...
