The village suites of Bay Harbor are beautiful and the surrounding shops/restaurants are incredible. It was a magical weekend with friends, until you turned the water on in suite 412 and 413....there was NO HOT water in February! We arrived on Friday, Feb. 23 unpacked, went to dinner and to the distillery for a night of fun. When we returned to the suite we noticed that the water was "warm" but it was too late to call for assistance and thought if it was still warm in the morning we would call for maintenance. Saturday morning still no hot water, I called for someone to come to check it out, they sent a young man to come to our suite. He then confirmed that there was no hot water in any of the bathrooms/kitchen. He called his supervisor and was told to let the water run for a while. Which we did on Friday night and Saturday morning...still no hot water. He said that he would have his supervisor come to check it out and would notify me when it was fixed. I received a text message about 10 minutes later stated "I got the hot water to work, if it stops working again turn on all of the faucets and showers and it should start coming out again in about 5 minutes" Wow that only took about 30 minutes from my call to having someone fix it, or so we thought. We were out of the suite all day, returning in the evening to shower before dinner and a concert. To our surprise...no HOT water!!! I once again called the front desk only to be told that maintenance was gone for the day. The best Erica could do for us was to allow us to use the fitness center to shower, which would mean we would have to walk outside in 14 degrees- no thank you. She did say that she had another suite on the same floor that we could shower in or stay in but it was only a one bedroom and we were staying in a two bedroom. In addition, she was not sure if the hot water worked in that unit. We did not have time to take the chance of moving our stuff to the one bedroom. Erica stated that she would have Lorin call me Sunday morning to take care of the issue. I called Lorin ( guest service manager) Sunday at 10:30 to say that we were checking out, she said that she was going to call me to let me know that she was going to issue a credit of $150 for the inconvenience in addition to speaking with the general manager/supervisor to make it up to us. The general manager was going to be in the office on Monday. Today is Friday, I have waited 5 days to receive a call, NOTHING! So I called today, spoke with Lorin, she said that they went into the unit on Monday and let the water run for a long time and it did get hot...not sure how long it had to run but for a while. Therefore they are not going to do any thing else for us, not even return the call. Bottom line- GUEST BEWARE IF YOU WANT HOT WATER while staying at the exclusive Village Suites of Bay Harbor be prepared...
Read morewhere to begin? My family and I spend a week in Bay Harbor every summer. Although we usually stay at the Inn, there have been a couple stays at the Village before. With Covid-19 still active and strict guidelines across the state, we knew this visit would be different. But we didnt expect a complete abdication of responsibilities from the hotel and its staff. We booked one 3-bedroom and one 2-bedroom room. One of the rooms wasnt available until 5 pm, and I was the one who had to call to figure that out. We found out a few hours after being in the room that there would be no housekeeping services, and that if we wanted a vacuum, we would need to call for it early in the morning. We were given suites with no garbage bags, a half-empty roll of paper towel, and no cleaning supplies. And every time we asked for those supplies, we were always given what seemed like the least amount possible. As garbage piled up the next day, we also found out that we were responsible to take our garbage downstairs and outside to the garbage dumpster. Additionally, the balcony to our room had a sticky floor and the furniture was not wiped down from the previous guests.
When I asked the front desk, just 2 days before check in, what was open, I was ensured that everything except one restaurant was open. Upon arriving and walking between the buildings, we noticed that quite a few places were closed. On top of that, there would be random closures of restaurants on random days, and without notice. We were also never told that the walkway from the village to the Inn was completely destroyed.
We required maintenance twice during our stay-once for the dryer and once for the toilet. Both times, the maintenance did not take their shoes off (our unit had carpet), and one also never wore a mask.
On Saturday, we rented a cabana by the pool. On Monday, we rented the same cabana. We immediately noticed that the trash from Saturday was still there, including the cans the bottles that we left on top of the sink counter. UNACCEPTABLE. Even though we told the staff member about it, no one came to clean the cabana the remaining time we were (around 3 hours).
Lastly, the WiFi service was horrible the entire week.
In summary, even when acknowledging a different type of vacation experience in the midst of a pandemic, it doesnât excuse the apathetic, indifferent approach taken by staff towards guestsâŠin particular guests who are renting 2&3 bedroom suites with larger families. A horrible...
Read morePetoskey is the largest city in and the county seat of Emmet County, Michigan, and is the largest settlement within the county. Located in Petoskey is the Village Suites Bay Harbor located at Bay Harbor. This was our first time here with my family of seven including three adults and three young children on vacation. We arrived here at the same time after driving up in two cars from Western Springs. Illinois. It took us about 6 hours to drive up here. We parked our two vehicles on the main street during our stay. There is alternative self parking behind both buildings. ||We checked into the main office to receive our keys. Our check-in went smoothly at their main office. We booked both of our units via the internet. We had to pay half $1,537 in advance. My one king bedroom two full bathroom suite with full kitchen and two bunk beds in our king bedroom cost $3,074 for our four night stay or $769 per night. One of our full bathrooms had a tub and stackable washer/dryer off our main king bedroom with the bunk beds. Our second bathroom off the main entrance had a shower. We had two patios off our main king bedroom and our living area. We also had a Murphy bed in our living room, which we did not use. We had two TVs with internet service. We also had a gas fireplace, which we did not use. Since we stayed here for four nights we opted for only one day of cleaning service and making up our room. As you can see from my video and many pics we were on the third floor overlooking the yacht harbor and swimming pool. We could walk to one of our favorite Brandyâs restaurant, the marina, pool or ice cream. I was very pleased with our unit and the area. Everything worked well in our room. My family stayed across the street in a larger two bedroom unit three bathroom suite. I would stay here again because this is a happening resort area. We all had a great vacation up here especially since the weather was great in early August. Now that our vacation has ended we checked out without any problem. More to come regarding our drive back...
