Local Bay Harbor — Restaurant in Petoskey

My husband and I enjoy staying at Bay Harbor a few times a year. We have considered purchasing property their several times. When we came across The Local we thought we would test it out. My husband called to make reservation, which sounded to have plenty of availability. He also requested a nice view and the guy said everything we have has a nice view. Upon entering esthetically it was nice but felt it didn't have an identity yet. People were wearing anything to workout clothes to sport coats. The hostess was wearing a cropped shirt and waiter was wearing a t-shirt and shorts. Seemed off for 6pm on a Saturday in the fall but maybe that is what they are going for. The two couples in front of us did not have a reservation but appeared to choose their seats since there seemed to be plenty to pick from. We were escorted to the back with no view. We asked to move outside which she accommodated. We sat for quite some time before someone brought us waters. We then proceeded to watch two other table get seated after us and have their dinner/drink orders taken. I got up and approached a water and asked if we could have some service there are two tables that came in after us and already have their request taken. He told me he is not my waiter and I should not worry about other tables. I tried to explaining a little further, at this time our waiter came to the table, he said your waiter is over there and proceeded to put his palms together, waving and scolded me saying if I am going to be a problem to leave. I was in shock!!!! I did not raise my voice at any point or use explicit language. I walked away telling my husband we are leaving. After leaving my husband went back in to talk to a Manager. The waiter that scolded me was the Manager. Obviously the conversation was pointless. Our assumption for whatever it is worth, The Local will not be in business if staffing...

I dined here for lunch with 3 of my coworkers. This is a new establishment, there is a severe labor shortage in this area so I understand they're still working out the kinks. Service was a little slow, and they brought our appetizer and salad after our entrees. The Manger came to apologize with out us asking and had the app and salad removed from our bill. The presentation of the food was good, atmosphere was nice, good music that was at the right volume. The restaurant was a little less than half full when we dined not sure what the volume level would be if it was a busy evening. One other concern was the men's room, it was pretty messy, low on tp, and soap, we got there right when they opened, it was clear it hadn't been cleaned from the night before. This little gem sets on the corner and has a fantastic view of the marina. There is seating available on the outside patio and seating on the inside as well. The drinks are decent priced and the food was good but a little on the higher end for the quality of food I received. It's a great place for a drink/night cap and socializing. The staff were...
