Starr Crest Resort — Hotel in Pigeon Forge

I have a mixed review for this one. We had a very good time here, and the view was probably the best on the mountain. Wonderful view and nice decks to hang out on! If this is the most important thing to you this is a great find.||I called several months before our arrival to ask for an allergy cleaning. We had someone in our party with severe asthma & dust triggers it. I offered to pay more and they said it was no problem. I verified again before checking in and they said yes, they did that. The cabin was actually pretty dirty. The counters and tables and toilets were clean, but all of the decorations and curtains were super dusty. The showers were bad enough we went to buy cleaning products to wash them before we used them. That was disappointing, its not a deal breaker for me but I felt bad for the member of our party with asthma. ||Expect bugs to get in and to be on the decks. We had a scorpion in our cabin & millipedes and stuff.||There were a few tiles broken in the kitchen which was sort of a trip hazard.||We liked that there were 3 stories and we kind of separated by family, we each had our own space and that was lovely. The furniture was nice and in good shape. The hot tub was working and very clean. Kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and cookware. The washer and dryer was nice to have. Wifi worked pretty good. We enjoyed the games upstairs and the pool table. ||There are carpenter bees messing up the windows (and the views, because of this!) by pooping? spraying liquid from their burrows? im not sure. The windows had streaky stuff all over them anyway.||All of our beds had loose headboards that kind of started to fall over so we had to be careful and were trying to fix those every night. But the beds were comfortable. The AC worked well and the fans in the room were nice. We all slept well.||Someone vandalized my husbands car while we were parked there, he had a few $1 bills in his cup holder and I guess that is the reason. They broke his door handle but didn't get into the car. I was advised to file a police report. I would have thought it was a safe area but obviously there is some crime.||We were also charged after we checked out (I think it was $31) with no explanation or notification. Its really not a huge deal but just left a bad taste in our mouths because we left the cabin in good shape and followed the instructions left to us. We contacted them before we left about extra trash and they told us to leave it bagged in the kitchen, so we did. The cabin wasn't left in perfect shape for us to stay in, so nickle and diming us for things that had to be insignificant feels bad.||In general, we had a good week and really appreciated the view and the spacious cabin. The cleaning standards were sub-par, and we are aware it IS a cabin in the woods so we can deal with nature and bugs. After finding a cabin search to celebrate my daughter's birthday I just knew this would be the way to go. Especially, after I chose a cabin and the FEES were added. $200 worth of fees I just knew this would be a top of the line place to stay. ||We arrived and noticed at the" resort" the pool was at the bottom of the hill and it was outdated. We could not even use it. Who wants to drive wet back to your cabin? We then drove to the top of the hill and arrive at our cabin. Our surrounding cabins looked very nice outside we were excited. Then we came to our cabin " Lucky Break ". The windows were totly different, blinds were broken. We then arrive inside. The cabin had over grown vines growing on the porch, the counter in the kitchen was not clean. We wiped down with our own cleaning supplies. ALL the ceiling fans had 1 inch thick of dust. The air hockey game did not work. The bed had several springs broken. The sleep was not comfortable for the bed upstairs due to this. The showers had mild. See picture below. The rugs are old and have burn marks on them. I just wish this would have been a good experience. I definitely paid $ 400 for 1 night. And to pay so much for cleaning fees and the cabin is out dated is very unfortunate. I did call to express my concern. They said they would send someone that night. They never came. But the cleaning crew was waiting outside our cabin when we checked out at 8: 30 am. I know nothing can be done now. Checked in on Sunday December 27th and the light above the family room which is the main room to watch tv was out . I had emailed and let the office know who in turn called me and said the bulb probably out and maintenance would be there tomorrow with a ladder to change it , it was about 20ft high . We woke up in the morning and the hot water wasn’t working on the main level . I called and let them know . We were leaving around 1230/1245 so I emailed and asked if they can just not send anyone as the hot water was working and we would deal with light , we had dogs and didn’t want anyone in while we weren’t there . They replied and said they aren’t allowed in cabins who have dogs unless the tent ants are there . Fats forward to 4:53 I got a call stating that my dog has gotten out the screen window when the maintenance worker came into the house . She said they didn’t try to get him cause he was “big” it’s been almost a week and my dog is still lost . I have hired a search and rescue because the resort won’t answer calls or emails about the situation or my dog . Please consider this when renting from them ! Also the blinds in the place were all ripped and the cabin is outdated !! The chairs outside are trash ! My 200 lb dog vanished in air and no one will give me the maintenance guys number or have the maintenance guy...
