Upon arrival, the cabin was beyond filthy and in disorder. We immediately called the customer service line and texted them asking them to send different cleaners to the cabin than the ones who “cleaned it” bc clearly the ones who “cleaned it” have no idea how to clean. The ski ball table was filthy with food crumbs and missing balls. We notified them of the missing balls as soon as we checked in and they never provided us balls during our entire stay.
They sent the same cleaners and it seemed like a family (mom, dad, teenage daughter and teenage son in their pajamas). The mom could not speak English and they were speaking to eachother in Spanish but to us, in English. The “dad” asked what he needs to address and when we told him the whole cabin, he slammed his cleaning equipment down and was obviously angered. As we pointed out to them all of the filth (dirt and food on the floors, countertops, outside of cabinets, cup holders, trash on the deck, gas grill on deck that had food and debris on it and appeared to have never been cleaned, these “cleaners” proceed to yell in Spanish at eachother, throw their hands up in the air, and roll their eyes at us once we turned our backs. We legitimately felt unsafe and extremely disrespected. I’m not exaggerating when I say we felt in fear for ourselves and our kids with the way these damn cleaners acted. The maintenance guy was there fixing a broken handle to the pool room and he even called management due to how these cleaners were treating us and acting and stayed until they left because he said he didn’t like how they were acting and wanted to be there incase something happened.
Broken shelf in the refrigerator, and broken bottom shelf of the stove. Filth was everywhere and we have several pictures. Smoke alarm pulled apart in one room. Hair and hair ties found throughout upon check in. Trash and open safety pins on driveway.
After cleaning ourselves that evening since it was so disgusting we didn’t even want to bring our stuff in (they had to bring us cleaning supplies because the cabin had NO cleaning supplies- not one!), we got into the pool that was freezing. The hot tub was also cold. We asked the maintenance man about that and he basically said that’s the way it is and that’s the warmest both get. We were in the hot tub for 15 mins the first night then never got back in it. We then decide to do a movie night in the theater room since the pool and hot tub were not working out. The surround sound and sound to the tv would not work.
Next night, the surround sound was fixed by maintenance but the apps on the TV all of a sudden wouldn’t pull up and load.
Third night, our microwave stops working. Can’t pop popcorn for movie night with kids and can’t heat up our dinner. All while finding more nastiness throughout the cabin.
We found a broken glass knob to a lid to a casserole dish that almost cut my wife’s finger. I went to turn on a lamp and discovered a broken light bulb that was never replaced.
The next night, I go downstairs to turn off all lights and I hear a dripping noise. I find two leaks from the ceiling into the movie theater room carpet. One leak dropped right on my shirt as I was inspecting. The washer was running and these leak spots were right below the washer. I immediately told the management group about this and they send a maintenance guy the next day to drop off a (dirty) temporary microwave for us to use and we saw a sign in our master bathroom to not use one of our sinks (the only sink that had ANY pressure). Maintenance just lets themselves in to do whatever without this management group notifying the guests they are stopping by and for what reason. We felt violated in a way without knowing why a man would be in our bathroom with our private items and no message from management on the matter.
After all of this, the only refund they are willing to give is one night (we stayed 6 nights) and the cleaning fee of $265. That’s a joke after all we went through and how the whole experience could have ruined our...
Read moreWe rented Linger Lodge cabin in Gatlinburg, TN for our micro wedding in Sept. of 2021.
PROS: cabin size, # of bedrooms (king beds, private baths & walk-in closets!), cleanliness, spaciousness, kitchen seating, granite counters, natural light, landscaping, fire pit area/arbor, and extra storage space.
CONS: VERY steep driveway, some windows are dirty between the glass so can’t be cleaned, some appear to leak as the flooring (left of fireplace) starting to rot. We only noticed that when we moved some furniture. (We have notified Timber Tops). Some TVs didn’t work but that could have been us. Timber Tops refused to provide measurements of space for us to determine layout for event/rental tables. Inactive fireplace from April 1st - Sept 30th.
Overall, cabin was very nice. It wasn't perfect, but I was quite happy. Before arrival, I’d scoured internet for more info/pics finding little. This detailed review is for all of you brides/grooms out there.
Upon arriving, we were shocked at the STEEP driveway. However, despite pulling a 5x8 U-Haul trailer with a Ford Escape, we made it up winding road and driveway fine. There are signs about needing tire chains in the winter.
Remote check-in worked well. When approaching front door, a huge white spider’s nest was on the door-- impossible for a cleaning crew to miss. Upon entering, space was very nice and seemed clean. It didn’t smell, which was great since I’m sensitive to scents.
Bathrooms all had origami towels. Two of four shower curtains were very snagged, but clean. If you’re staying the week prior to wedding like we did, consider bringing vacuum or mop. I'm assuming cleaning tools were tucked away in the one locked foyer closet.
I’d read in reviews that cell & Wi-Fi reception could be an issue. T-Mobile with a 5G phone didn’t have any trouble. Wi-Fi was slow, so I used a T-Mobile hotspot from my local library.
We settled into our bedroom on the ground floor. Family settled into theirs upstairs. Our room had a jetted tub and very nice bathroom. One of the 3 upper rooms sat directly above with same layout. The remaining 2 upstairs rooms were on the opposite side above the kitchen. We did not generally hear noise from room to room.
Next day, a bear pulled our grill partially down the hill trying to open small aluminum trash bin tethered to it. It couldn’t get the top open, so it ripped out the entire bottom. We reported incident, and it was promptly replaced by a very kind maintenance man. Bear visited often, especially when we used the grill in the afternoons. Do NOT plan on setting up any dinner for a wedding ceremony outside. We talked to a couple prior. A bear interrupted their wedding ceremony. Guests had to slowly shuffle into the cabin for safety.
On setup day, our event rental company made it up the driveway, but had trouble getting back out. There’s NOT enough room for a big truck to turn at the top of the driveway. They had to backup down the drive and got hung up on a dip at the bottom where the driveway meets Pinnacle Vista Road. Advise deliveries to use smaller trucks whenever possible!
We moved cabin furniture and setup 4 tables as one giant (6.5' x 16') table in the living room. We strung lights from the loft railing to a fireplace beam-- perfect ambiance. Chairs from cabin's dining table/island were placed outside as ceremony seating. The cabin's dining table served as our buffet.
By arbor, we setup café lights. No outlets nearby so make sure to bring a 100' extension cord. If marrying in the fall, bring a leaf blower else you'll be sweeping the firepit area forever. (Thanks to previous renters for tip!!) Photos of the arbor on the rental page show views of the mountains. The trees have grown up since then. It is still very beautiful, but a better view of the mountains is off the deck (behind the fireplace wall) which faces west. The deck is too slim for a ceremony.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this cabin to others for a wedding.

Read moreAs I plan our summer vacation, I came across my photos from last year so I decided to do my review for future planners. Below is part of the survey & email that was sent to the management staff, but wasn't supported in any manner. I was blamed for not calling sooner and told that they could not refund any of my money back. Please read all reviews and look at photos before booking with Timber Tops. I see a lot of similarities in the low rankings based on our experience.
Survey Response: "Timber Tops Cabin: The Swimming Hole
First, I want to take the time to say thank you for allowing my family to stay at one of your cabins. Unfortunately, our stay was not what we expected. I am a reviewer, but always look for the positives before giving feedback to others. We normally use Oak Haven Resort & Spa cabins, but since Timber Woods had a special for the 4th of July and an indoor pool, we decided to go with them. In the beginning, I spoke with a representative over the phone and she was extremely kind and helpful with my questions. I received directions via email as she stated. However, the directions were vague to someone who wasn't as familiar with the area. It stated that we needed to turn at light #3 so we did that. Then it read that we should turn at light #3A. There wasn't a #3A so I called the company. She informed me that all lights are not numbered and I needed to continue to drive into Gatlinburg and then turn at that light that says #3. I asked for the address to the cabin so I could put it into my GPS. She refused to give it to me and stated that I just needed to follow the directions emailed to me (she wasn't rude, but would not give the exact address). I asked her if I could use the address to the office. She informed me that I did not need to go to the office, but could use that address until I got to a certain street. Then I would need to use the directions that were emailed. After putting that address in, I had an additional 45 minutes to my drive which meant I was almost an hour from our cabin. The cabin was way up in the mountain and the road was very dangerous. If I knew that before booking, I would not have booked that specific cabin. It made it an inconvenience to come and go the entire trip because it took about 30 minutes to get there and back. The upstairs mattress has a faint urine smell (took a photo of the mattress after we took the sheets off to wash). There was cigarette ashes in the bucket on the balcony (my family don't smoke or like the smell of it). The hot tub was not used at all. The furniture could use some updates, but no big deal. The couch's mattress had long strands of hair and small blood stains (I took photos of this too), the pool window had lots of spiderwebs and bugs (took photos of this too), there was rust that got on one of the wash cloths (photo of this as well), there were no extra toilet paper rolls which was fine, we bought our own necessities, the dishes/pots/pans needed updated (the scissors were broken (photo of this) so we went into town to eat most nights. There was mold on the ceiling around the vent (photo of this). I really tried to make the best of our 4 days, but I was not comfortable at all. We got our own things to make our sleeping arrangement more comfortable. There were a lot of rules for staying in the cabin and I feel we left it cleaner than when we entered it. The dart board didn't work because the some of the darts didn't have a point on them or they wouldn't stick to the board. I would like some sort of reimbursement, for our troubles, but I will wait to see how this issue is resolved for my family before sharing this experience with others. I do not like to leave negative reviews at least without a positive outcome. Additional information: Dates of our stay: July 3-6, 2023, Approx. checked out time: 8:50AM, Cabin Name- The Swimming Hole, Address: 942 Boyd Blvd. I look forward to hearing from your company soon."
I hope you have a different experience than we did, but my family will never stay in these...
