This is our second time coming here same time as last year to experience the beautiful fall scenery. This time I invited my sisters to come stay as it was a wonderful place. I was so disappointed this time and felt bad as I brought my sisters and their husbands here to stay. We booked this back in the spring and asked for all 3 rooms to be right beside each other as we check in they said rooms will not be together as room 8 was down due to plumbing issues. Ok got over it, but then the other 2 rooms my sisters stayed in 9 and 10 was not updated as room 6 i stayed in last yr and 7 this yr. Was disappointed as pictures give wrong updates only certain rooms are. The one room as my sister and brother in law got into bed said the sheets smelt like sweat and their beds were so lumpy and u could feel springs in spots on beds. The rug by bed was dirty and nxt day came back from exploring to find rug still dirty by last day of our stay rug was finally changed out. In my room I had to leave a note to leave us some extra toilet paper as no extra roll was avail. And not left nxt day. So left note to please leave us some. Well they didn't they only put a new roll on and left wrapper and old roll on tv stand. Came back from exploring as i needed to go to the bathroom and it was 4pm in evening and couldn't get in my room as they were just now cleaning it. Thank god my sisters rooms were avail. and there with me. Who cleans rooms that late. As we were out of rooms by 9am every morning. Then as we ended out to go home on sat. Morning and get hours away my sister realized her wallet wasn't in her purse she immediately called as she remembered putting a small tip for cleaners and thought she placed back in her purse. So she immediately called the inn and told them and he said he would tell cleaners to do a big search in room and get back to her. Never called my sister had to call back. This time another person answered said she seen note and will see and get back to her. Never did so she called again and was told room was already rented out and they would ask cleaners and look in lost and found and call back well guess what no call back this time she asked who was manager and they needed to call her. No calls . How would you feel if ur wallet was lost with money cards etc in it and u are trying to. Find if u left in room and no responses or not knowing if they even looked as no one knew nothing or returned calls. Very frustrating and not good service to me . Get it together townsend inn. I will not ever return or recommend your inn as I did before. Very very...
Read moreWe stayed 2 nights in one of their 2BR/1BA suites located across from the pool & all rooms have been updated, so don't let the "time capsule" look of this little 1960's motel fool you! For the first time in I can't remember how many years, I was finally able to relax. It's a short drive up to Cade's Cove where we picnicked & spent some time exploring in between the rain storms (saw a momma bear with 2 itty bitty cubs).|||Their rates are good (repeat customers get a price break), the rooms were clean, the bed was super comfortable, so we both slept good & we enjoyed the covered patio area near our room for lounging during a rainstorm (I fell asleep sitting up!), plus we ate a picnic dinner one night there, too. ||Upon arrival, guests are given a little brown paper bag with a variety of snacks in it as a "thank you for your business", which I absolutely love that personal touch & we enjoyed all of them. The pool was clean & not too cold, but one of the best things about this little family owned motel is that it has 2 fire pits on 2 different decks (1 at each motel building) for guests to enjoy. ||We bought some wood, wine & a fire starter log down at the IGA, then relaxed both nights by the campfire looking up at the stars in the sky. We've been before where other guests visit with each other around the fire pit & that's been fun, too, but this time we had it all to ourselves.||There is some deferred maintenance on the outside, but nothing drastic that would be a deal breaker (gutters have weeds growing out of them, soffits in the back outside the windows have some rot, grass needed mowing, etc). We heard the owner is going thru dialysis, so that's understandably first & foremost on his mind. We wish him all the best & hope everything will be ok in the future because we love his...
Read moreWhat a great motel!!! I think we were in the "secondary" section --like, I think the Townsend Gateway Inn bought the motel next door, and that's where the pet-friendly rooms are. We took our dog and had a great night at this recently remodeled and spotlessly clean lodge! They seriously spent some money -- the vanities have new vessel sinks and the furnishings are so, so nice. The room was sparkling clean, and there was even a basket of goodies on the table. I slept like a baby on the big, new, silent mattress, and my husband swears I snored less on the new, firm pillow. There's a mini fridge and microwave in the room as well as a tiny two-cup coffee maker. The swimming pool looks clean and inviting even in the holidays, and there's a fire pit in the front, too. Absolutely everything about this hotel was knocking us out -- even the wifi is good!!! Then I took a shower... and the hotel lost a star. The overhead light is connected to the fan, so you can't turn off the wind without being in the dark. Had a hard time adjusting the water temp, and then once I finally got in, the hot water ducked out. EEK. Same thing happened to husband. Hot water comes back after about 30 seconds, which is a LONG time to wait while freezing, so I just rinsed off and got out as quick as I could - and then I dried off while the overhead fan kept me good and cold. This is probably not an issue in summer, but it's a problem in winter. I will probably stay here again -- so many great things outweighed the shower problem, and seriously, I would like to be there in July when I can try out the pool. Very pretty, clean, pet-friendly motel!! Highly...
