The team at Dogwood Cabins are great at what they do! I had booked one of thier places on VRBO on a Saturday, and recieved a phone call Monday morning informing me it had been double booked on another site before my booking. My heart sank temporarily hearing that news, because we booked a little over a week before arrival and there really wasnt a lot available for our budget on VRBO. However, the nice lady with the sweetest accent (Jennifer, i think) made it all better immediately when she told me she had another house with the same number of bedrooms and bathrooms as well as being on the river just like the house we booked that we could use instead. She directed me to the website and gave me the name of the house and walked me through how to pull it up on thier site while on the phone. I agreed that would be a perfect solution and at no extra charge. Their customer service is amazing!!! Upon arrival we discovered the house had a hottub on the back porch and the originally booked house did not 😎. We stayed in the River Cottage. It's on the main road through Townsend but sits back pretty far and is right on the river. Due to the location you can walk to many local places to shop, eat, drink alcohol, and rent utvs. This place had everything we needed to be comfortable and relax. We had fun grilling out, drinking coffee, and enjoying the hot on the back porch. The house was clean and had everything we needed and more. It is a little dated but still charming. Highly recommend just calling and telling them what your looking for in a vacation rental and your budget. They have so many places available, and know the area so well that they would help make all your vacation dreams come true. We will never stay anywhere else in Townsend but Dogwood Cabins! We've rented through them several times and this time may have been the best yet! Family vacation with my husband, my sister and her husband, and my 92 year old mom. We rented Laurel Valley Lodge and it was incredibly beautiful and supremely comfortable. We had wonderful interactions with Dogwood Cabins staff before and during our trip. They are the kindest, most responsive people 💖 We needed more towels and toilet paper and Todd brought them right out to us, and the propane tank for the grill was out and Jennifer got a new one to us the same day. Boy, the grilled steaks tasted good that night! The sweetest thing, though, is that they knew I like a certain coffee that is made in town and they made sure to have some in the cabin for me (thank you, Roger!) 🥰 So incredibly nice, and everyone enjoyed that coffee. So...Laurel Valley Lodge review...it's AMAZING! It's gorgeous, beautifully decorated. My mom just loved the big kitchen with the pretty granite counter tops and island. Coffeemaker AND keurig. Gas grill, hot tub, jacuzzi bath, screened outdoor seating area and 2 decks. 3 bedrooms, 2 king and a queen, all with bathrooms and showers. Upstairs and downstairs living rooms. Space heaters that worked great for my mom and sis. We saw deer in the back yard on the first day, and one day around 7 a.m. a mama bear and her 2 cubs in the yard just eating. So awesome! There were movies, games and books. But the beds were so comfortable none of us stayed up very late 😅 It was a lovely vacation, thanks to all the Dogwood...

Beware! It's one thing to have issues--it's.entirely worse to complain and get no resolution, not even a response! I booked a cabin for my mom's birthday getaway. All she wanted a was a place with a wood-burning fireplace because she loves sitting by the fire.

Unfortunately, when she sat on the couch, she sank directly to the floor. The couch springs were completely broken on one end and nearly gone in the other. We stuffed pillows under the cushions.but it was only slightly better. What a huge disappointment!

Plus--All three bed comforters were covered in hair--different colors and types of human hair, so it was an ongoing issue and lack of cleaning. All three beds also squeaked and creaked loudly, like cheap old mattresses. There were pennies on the floor everywhere, which proved this place hadn't been mopped or swept. There wasn't enough firewood, despite my efforts to ensure ahead of time there would be enough for all three days.

When I called the next morning, a lady took down my info and complaints, but no one called me back. I called again as we were checking out and left a voicemail, which got no response either. Clearly, once they have your money, they don't give a damn. Being able to sit on the couch isn't asking too much!

I wouldn't have booked here if I'd realized this is who we rented from once before and had such a bad experience, they offered us a discount on our next stay--but when my mom called later to make another reservation and take them up on their amends, no one would return her call. I won't forget again! One star is...
