I have always loved the Magnolia Inn, so every chance me and my boyfriend get we will go there to have our date night. However this last time it was possibly the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. We go in and the hostess sits us outside, soon the server kindly came over and took our order but when our steaks came our they were medium well to well done hardly any pink, we had ordered our steaks medium (a HOT pink center) also my steak personally was dry. I've never complained but I was so unsatisfied with it I asked the server if she could take it back. The server came up to me and asked again how I would like it cooked so I said "Just cook it medium rare." Soon after the steak came out and it was still medium well, it was horrible, the steak tasted as though it was an old steak they just found in the back of the refrigerator and just threw in a microwave . I was so disappointed that I decided I didn't even want to try for a 3rd time so we asked for the check. The manager came over and squatted next to me and said " I'm sorry but those steaks were medium, I'm not sure what your used to but maybe next time you come you should order rare" I was so surprised at how unprofessional she was so I told her that "We've came there before and there were usually red in the steak but this time there wasn't any." Her response to that was "Well maybe it was the lighting out here but from what I could tell those steaks were medium so next time order rare." then she just walked away. I do not support any business that doesn't care about the guest or their experience so with that said I do not wish to return to...
Read moreThe location is perfect as once you park your car, you can walk everywhere. The Inn though isn’t ideal. Travelers also need to keep in mind that this is not a bed and breakfast, it is an Inn. You won’t get the personal experience or the amazing breakfasts that you would have at a B&B. They offer continental breakfast which is a nice thing to do since there isn’t a sit-down breakfast place within walking distance. The smell of coffee woke me up at 7 and I couldn’t wait to get down there and get a cup, only to see a Keurig for guests and not real brewed coffee. Boy, that was a let down. What trickery, even if not intentional.||||The Inn is fine but we won’t stay there again for two reasons. ||||1) The restaurant on site, while delicious, makes it too crowded and too busy. The porch was not available for guests at the Inn from 3-10 because they set up dining tables there. And, I know it contributes to the issue with number 2.||2) The rooms are so hot during the summer that it’s uncomfortable to be in them. There is one unit per floor, and it was working as hard as it could, but cooling 3-4 rooms in an older home in which the doors are closed is a tough order. One very simple solution would be to install ceiling fans in the rooms. It won’t take away from the historical ambience and it would make guests a lot more comfortable. ||||The rooms are also much smaller than they look on the web. Much smaller. Ours had a fold up twin bed that we didn’t need, but it would have needed to be set up in the walk-in closest.||||Again, this is the effect location but too many...
