I just thought it was okay at the Holly. Right off the bat I felt like a 2nd class citizen coming into the Holley, they treat you like you cheaped out and did not stay at the Carolina. First off, I came in frustrated because of a local event that had the roads blocked with no way more me to get to the hotel. Once I finally pull up to the front, I expect a valet since there was not any clear parking for the hotel, and no one is there. I walked inside and was barely greeted upon arrival. Once I finally got checked in, I asked if there was a valet and I was treated like I was crazy asking for my car to be parked, and they told me they did not have anywhere to put it and just to leave it out front. With all this going on, they told me golf clubs normally get sent over to the golf course but because of the event that wouldnt happen and I would have to lug my clubs to my room. The next day I show up for the included breakfast and there really is not very many options, the breakfast had just as much variety as the local holiday inn. The food was good, just not much to choose from. Once I finally got checked out, I asked for my car to be brought around and they handed me my keys and told me there was not a valet and to go get it myself. Needless to say, I was disappointed, for how much it cost to stay at this hotel, I expected it to be a little better.

We were greeted by Brittany at the front desk upon arrival. My husband was a little over excited, as he loves Pinehurst. Brittany was patient and helpful. She even called me to let me know someone found my husband's phone. She recognized me from the picture on his screen. (Good thing I beat out Ben Hogan for the screen saver.) Parking was right behind the inn with easy access to rear entrance near the elevator. Our room was clean and comfortable. We love the history of Pinehurst and The Holly Inn. The bellhop helped my husband with his golf clubs. He was always friendly and smiling. The shuttles are convenient and readily available. Brittany definitely made a huge impression on us. She set the tone for our visit when we arrived, and left us feeling appreciated when we checked out. We will definitely be back and will only stay at The Holly Inn-

We're staying the Holly Inn at Pinehurst for the USKids Golf World Championship. My son's tournament is being held at Legacy Golf Links which is 9 miles away, and not at Pinehurst to our surprise. To make things worse, we were told by the shuttle driver and an employee at the Holly that shuttle service was available to Legacy as we were checking in; however, as we were boarding the shuttle, we were told that they don't shuttle to Legacy because it's 22 miles away (vs. actual 9 miles). With our tee time only 45 minutes away, there were no available Uber or Lyft cars, and we were referred to Safeway Taxi service who charged $45 one-way, or $90 roundtrip, or $360 total to cover each day of play.

Visibly stressed, Alberta at the front desk noticed that I was struggling to get a hold of Enterprise Rent-a-car. She also called Enterprise and got a hold of them before me which I was very grateful for. She gave me the phone but I declined the offer by Enterprise to search for better alternatives. At this time, Alberta graciously offered her car for us to use, and I was floored with relief and gratitude. Thank you Alberta for going above and beyond to help us, and telling us that you wanted our son not to be stressed out going into the tournament. Thanks to her, we were able to get to the course just in time, and rent a car afterwards. Alberta is an amazingly trusting person who lent her car to a complete stranger in a time of need, and we will always cherish this experience at the Holly Inn because of beautiful people like Alberta. We look forward to...

The service was great (that is how they got the star), but this hotel does not meet expectations, especially when it's an "overflow" for the main Carolina hotel. The toilet paper holder was not secured to the wall, receipts from prior guests' stays were found in our room, paint was on the finishes, the tiles in the bathroom were missing... . But this was not the worst thing.

At around 1 am, the staff decided to play drums on the kegs outside, and then at around 2 am (after calling security) they decide to take out the trash on a brick path. Here's the thing about wheels on a brick path at 2 am.... It's loud. But what's louder is when the kegs drop off the rickety cart to and from the trash.

I'm not sure if the walls are not insulated, or if the staff has no common sense? I also do not understand why they would place paying guest in such close proximity to such a noisy part of the hotel?

Not worth the money. Definitely not somewhere to go and be pampered, rest or relax. It's not often you're in a hotel and after calling the operator twice in one night you can't wait to check out and head to your own home.

The hotel is better than a motel or an actual inn.... But for the price point it falls flat...
