I never leave reviews, good or bad. I usually just keep my mouth shut and move on after a bad experience. I can't help it this time. The campground is in a great location right next to Pipestone National Monument. It seemed very clean and well maintained. All of the RV's there were nice and new with nice, new vehicles pulling them. There were lots of kids playing and it seemed friendly, family oriented, maybe it usually is. I didn't realize when I booked it months ago that the county fair would be going on this weekend. Maybe that attracted the crowd that woke me up at 1 am slamming their camper door shut every 3 minutes, yelling, screaming, underage drinking, inappropriate interactions with minors, repeated vomiting right next to my camper, etc, etc. It sounded like a UFC fight was being held inside their camper... flooring stomping, jumping, walls being punched, the door flying open and people spilling out every few minutes. I've stayed at A LOT of campgrounds, this was the worst experience by far. This was the first time I've ever considered driving off in the middle of the night, but I was afraid to unplug my power cable. I even considered driving off and just yanking it from their pedestal. I was literally hoping someone else had called the police and they would be showing up at any minute. I was also running through my mind how I would react to different possible scenarios, expecting anything to happen at any moment. I'm all for people having a good time and even getting a little wild, but this was an unacceptable level of scary for several hours in the very early morning. This was probably a rare occurrence from what I gathered, but if you stay here, understand that you're rolling the dice. No camp host, owner, or anyone, did anything to control these people. And it was actually a lot worse than my description relays. I...
Read moreI just want to warn others about the campground we were at this weekend. It's horrible. It's more like a bad trailer park than a campground. Pipestone RV Campground. They advertise miniature golf course..that's gone, got washed away some previous year. They advertise a heated outdoor pool, it's not. They advertise a volleyball court, there's just an empty field no net. They advertise free Wi-Fi, we could not get connected on any device. We were hooked up to water but the connector part was broken, I tried talking to the owners about it, the lady couldn't stop looking down at her phone and the man was too drunk to help. The next day we asked again about getting it fixed, the man was supposed to come over but never did. We did however see him driving his golf cart around drinking and once yelled at kids to keep sand in the sandbox, which is another problem, the playground is overrun by weeds, no railing on a steep slide, it's just an unsafe very old, neglected playground. We had cars parking too close/on our site. Nowhere for our kids to play. Showers probably haven't been cleaned for a few weeks. Most neighbors I think are seasonal campers, not quiet and very obviously doing drugs and have a lot of traffic coming in and out. This was the only campground we could find with anything open and although it doesn't have a lake, which to us is one of the most important parts of camping, we thought we would still have a fun weekend with everything this place had advertised. So...
Read moreHere is a detailed review covering showers, RV spots, location, and customer service. The bathrooms did not make our stay pleasurable, but campground was great.
RV Spots - 3/5 ⭐ Our spot was grass that you parked on. We were very close to another RV, enough to worry about our slide outs. Except for to our left, there was plenty of space around us to take our pets outside and enjoy the nature. Sites were pretty level.
Customer Service 5/5 ⭐ Very easy to talk to and kind! They made our stay simple and easy, and lended us an adapter when we needed one. Truly amazing customer service!
Showers - 1/5 ⭐ Oh boy.. the bathrooms were dirty/moldy and the pipes were exposed and rusted. Out of the three shower stalls in the women's bathroom, one of the drains were completely clogged and filled the dirty shower floor instantly. Another stall didn't have a door lock. Only the one in the middle worked. All the shower stalls were very tight, I don't see a way you could get a wheel chair in easily at all. I included photos of the bathrooms to this review.
Location - 5/5 ⭐ Super easy walk to the beautiful Pipestone National Monument. The campgrounds were easy to navigate, and it was wonderfully dark at night to see the milky way. I included a photo of the campground map.
All in all, if you don't have need of the showers, I would recommend...
