Los Tulipanes Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Pipestone

I love, love, love Mexican food, and I used to work at a family owned Mexican restaurant. I really never thought I'd find one that I didn't like, but this place was not good. Enchilada sauce tasted like pizza sauce. The cheese had an off taste. The meat in my beef tip chimichanga tasted like it should be in an open faced sandwich at a Mom & Pop diner. The only thing that saved it was the chorizo that I asked them to add to it. We actually left food on our plates. We seriously NEVER do that. We always take leftovers home with us if we don't finish our plates. I feel like they are catering to tourists, or maybe locals, who can't handle standard Mexican seasonings.

To top off our experience, the service was horrible. The tables around us got lots of attention while our family of 4 sat waiting for more chips, the extra napkins we requested, and the 4th set of silverware that they forgot to give us when we were seated. The server didn't even take the time to bring us our bill while he was delivering two others to neighboring tables.

Update: completely inedible, I ordered my favorite again and nothing but huge chucks of that tough griscle or bone joint, don't exactly know but it was in the first bite, I dared continue then again second, I then cut open the chimi and almost got sick. This was unbelievable I will NEVER go again!! I should have called or something but didn't know what to say. Both my kids chicken nugget meals were also thrown away by my 8-9 yr old kids and they were eating in different rooms and we're unaware mine too garbage! NEVER AGAIN 😞

Great food service is good but when me and wife when here the guy up front didn't even acknowledge us and was on his phone and I had to get his attention after standing there for 2 minutes. Server was nice and patient but didn't ask me for refill on water, when I clearly had set it to the side of the table so he could see it place is what you'd expect from a small town mexican place food is good service could be better food comes out good time it has its flaws.
