We recently stayed at this Comfort Inn & Suites while we visited Pittsburgh for a Pirates Game and the Carnegie Science Museum with our children. Our family has stayed in many Comfort Inns, our preferred brand, when traveling as well as other Choice Hotel Brands from time to time. This Comfort Inn was just opened recently and is very nice. Clean rooms, new fixtures, free parking, and overall updated appearance. Beds are excellent and bathroom was clean. Everything was great until breakfast each day.
Oh my goodness! We have never stayed at a Comfort Inn with such a disorganized, cramped, and chaotic breakfast experience. It was just shocking. A brand new hotel with such a small space for breakfast! The space was only part of the problem. Both days we attended breakfast there were two employees working like crazy trying to keep up with everything. Eggs were gone. Then bacon. Then the waffle maker ran out. Then the orange juice came out watery. The bread disappeared… no toast. It was unbelievable. We could not pinpoint the exact cause of the breakdown. We have been in many other Comfort Inns with very busy breakfast areas and none had issues like this one. People were complaining everywhere. There were people sitting on the lobby furniture trying to eat, standing in the lobby, many just balancing their food on their plate while going back to their rooms. What a mess! As I shared, this happened both days we were there for breakfast. It left us very stressed, anxious, and started our day (as well as other people’s day) on a sour note.
We would encourage the owner or general manager of this Comfort Inn to immediately contact Choice Hotels to schedule a site visit by someone who can provide facility assistance. There must be a better way to organize seating and/or provide additional seating for over flow. Furthermore, the general manager or owner of the hotel should immediately schedule some visitations at other nearby Comfort Inns to observe their breakfast time and learn better strategies to meet the needs of the guests during this time. Between restructuring /reorganizing the breakfast area and developing better strategies to keep food plentiful, this would go a long way in improving this area. Shame needs to go to the architect or project designer who worked on the site plan for this Comfort Inn location. This breakfast area should never have been designed in such a manner.
Again, aside from breakfast, the hotel experience was very positive. Our children enjoyed the pool and our Internet Connection appeared stable and was reliable. Linens are clean, fresh, and inviting. The location is good. The breakfast issues must be addressed before a reputation becomes reality. This hotel easily could be one of the best Comfort Inns in Pittsburgh if the breakfast issue is addressed soon. We plan to return in the future to see the...
Read moreAbsolutely Disgraceful – Avoid This Hotel at All Costs||||If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience at Comfort Inn on 1100 Banksville Rd in Pittsburgh was hands down one of the most infuriating, unprofessional, and disrespectful hotel stays of my life. What happened here should be a red flag to anyone considering staying at this location.||||Let’s start with the theft. During my stay, my peacoat—an expensive, sentimental item—disappeared from my room. I immediately reported it to the front desk, expecting at least a show of concern or an attempt to resolve the situation. Instead, I was met with dismissiveness, condescension, and outright denial. No one took accountability, and no serious effort was made to investigate or recover my stolen property. It was swept under the rug like it didn’t matter, and that tells me all I need to know about how this location values its guests.||||The staff here, frankly, have no understanding of customer service. I was spoken to rudely, brushed off, and treated as though I was the problem for daring to raise concerns. There was an ongoing blackout in the area during my stay, and instead of offering support or fair accommodation, the hotel jacked up their prices, gouging customers in the middle of a power crisis. It was shameless. While the lights were out and temperatures dropped, they saw a business opportunity rather than a chance to support the community. This level of greed is unacceptable and downright unethical.||||The rooms themselves were mediocre at best. Dingy halls, outdated decor, and a musty smell that greeted me the moment I opened the door. Cleanliness was questionable, and the comfort level—ironically—was nonexistent. And let’s be honest: no amount of clean sheets can make up for theft and a total lack of human decency.||||This establishment has zero hospitality and even less integrity. The way I was treated—like a nuisance rather than a paying guest—is appalling. And if management reads this, know that your reputation is bleeding. Word of mouth is powerful. People deserve to know what kind of operation is being run here.||||I travel often, and I’ve stayed in dozens of hotels over the years, but this one stands out in the worst possible way. Save yourself the headache, the disrespect, and the risk. There are far better, safer, and more professional places to stay in Pittsburgh.||||Comfort Inn on Banksville Road is a disgrace to the Choice Hotels brand—and a liability to any traveler with expectations of dignity...
Read moreWe were extremely disappointed with this place. The second day we stayed there, we had been out from 7am to 9:30pm and came back, just wanting to get some nice, hot showers. However, the man at the front desk told us in a very rude manner that all the towels were in the wash and to come back in an hour and a half. We were a little skeptical because we weren't sure why wash was being done at 9:30 at night, when maid service had gone home, but we shook if off and went up to our room. Then, our room key was denying us access to enter the room, so we had to go back down stairs to get the cards reactivated. When we finally got into the hotel room, we realized that our maid had only given us two clean towels, in a room for four. My daughter ended up using her towel from the previous night. My son, on the other hand, went down around 11:00 to see if the towels were done and when he came up with two bags of towels, we realized that the towels we were given were wet. It seemed as though the man at the front desk deliberately gave us wet towels just because he didn't feel like having another encounter with us. My husband went down to complain and the man told him that he was just as agitated as we were, which I find to be extremely arrogant because the only reason why we were agitated was because he gave my son wet towels. He was agitated, on the other hand, because we were "bothering" him for more towels when really, we didn't have enough towels to begin with. He took twenty dollars off the room, but it doesn't change the fact that the customer service was horrific. Then, the next day for breakfast, the hotel had no butter. As trivial as this may seem, it felt like icing on the cake after the rude encounter the...
