Prices are false and they do nothing to inform you of this at all. Stopped in around 6:40 on our way home. While there is a sign that says "prices subject to change", I didn't think they meant from when you're standing there reading the board and ordering. A pound of pulled chicken said $10, 2 meat combo said $19.99 with 2 sides +$1 for brisket. Sides said small was $3.00. I get my bill and we were in a hurry, had to be home for a call at 7 so I couldn't look at it in detail. On my check I was charged $18.99 for the pound of pulled chicken, $24.99 for one 2 meat combo, $25.99 for another 2 meat combo, and then $1.00 for a combo up? That's $20 more than the prices that were written on the board that I was ordering off of and asking questions about. At no point in time did anyone say, those prices aren't correct, even when my kids said they felt bad for ordering because it was so much for the meal and I said it's for 2 meats it's fine, or when I asked how much was actually in the pound and said how it was worth it then to do the pound for 10 instead of a combo or side portion. I just think lying and taking advantage of customers is a sleezy tactic, but I'm pretty sure that's why we stopped coming down last year and I forgot until it happened this time. The same prices have been up on the board since last summer. If you know they're incorrect, erase the chalk and correct them instead of lying to customers and then overcharging them. When I read a menu I expect to pay the price it has listed, not a price the restaurant feels like charging spur of the moment. Not to mention the chicken was so dry it was literally not edible. Mac was ok, ribs were decent, brisket was ok, pulled...
Read moreIf this review had been posted before May 1st, 2016, I would have given Pittsburgh BBQ a solid and resounding 5 stars. Unfortunately, after today, I would give it 1 star (I would actually give it 0 stars, but that's not a choice, so the average is a generous 3 stars. Today, around 3 pm, I ordered a half rack of spare ribs, 3 cornbread and a pound of brisket. By 5 pm, I had eaten all but one of the ribs, all 3 cornbread and a few slices of brisket. By 6 pm, I began to experience nausea and stomach cramps. By 8 pm, the majority of the meal had resurfaced. By 11 pm, I am still feeling the ill effects of whatever parts of the meal did not resurface earlier. I am disappointed as I have always loved Pittsburgh BBQ Company and have made many visits there previously. Sadly, this will be my last visit. FYI, this was my first meal of the day and the only food I ate today, indicating that there was no other gastronomical reason for my distress.
UPDATE: I have downgraded to 2 stars after contacting management with no return...
Read moreFirst time trying pgh bbq company, kind of disappointed tbh. Got the combo, which is a pretty good price for the amount of food that you get (your choice of meat, 2 sides, drink), but everything was so bland in my opinion. Hated the bbq sauce, watery and flavorless except for the vinegar-ish taste. The only redeeming factor was that the pulled chicken has a great texture and the mac n cheese although very bland isn't soggy/overdone. After trying the sauce and deciding I didn't like it, I ate my pulled chicken with some sauce I had from another bbq place and it was wonderful. The staff was very nice and happy to answer questions. Not trying to rag on this place, and I'm not well-versed in different bbq styles, but I think I just prefer a different style of bbq than what they offer, I'm sure there are many people that prefer this style over what I prefer conversely. All in all not terrible but not my...
