Best Western Plus Pontoon Beach — Hotel in Pontoon Beach

Was here for a 6-day stay for work. On the 2nd day, around 8pm, 4 cops pounded on my door. I opened it up to find them demanding to search my room for marijuana. And my rental car. After 30 minutes, all they found were some CBD Gummy bears, which are legal as they contain zero THC. I did have a vape pen, but it was nicotine. I allowed them to take it to prove I hadn't used it and it was easily replaced. IF the 4 cops had found any marijuana, I would of been arrested, even with my medical marijuana card, (which they took a picture of, since they'd never seen one) because it's illegal in Illinois. As the cops left, laughing, the manager stuck her head in my room and demanded I leave immediately. The officers ALL disagreed with her. They told me take my time packing and leaving. I was very upset. The most-senior officer told me to "take an hour or two" to leave, and "don't rush. Try to calm down". Why would they say that if I was somehow in the wrong? The manager was 100% wrong. The officers only found candy, and it was not THC. I was accused by the night manager of smoking a LOT of marijuana, not eating gummy bears. I vaped outside and in my car only. If she cannot tell the difference, then I suggest she get another job. These officers tossed my room. Tossed it .They went through every container in my purse, bath kit, luggage, refrigerator, and car. They found gummy bears and a vape pen I gave up because it wasn't clearly marked. Why was I thrown out like garbage by a clueless manager. Keep in mind, the cops were there originally for a diabetic who was in a critical situation. The manager called the cops on him too. As the officers told me, "we are here constantly". Really? Why? Because of the manager. Worst Best Western ever. And I am a BW loyalty member for 20+ years. I have never been thown out of any hotel ever in my entire life. And I'm 53. I sleep in hotels 4 out of every 7 days. First time ever. And I'm pissed.

Update; I have read the "owners" response. There was NO marijuana found in my room. I live in Redding, CA. Which I did explain to the officers, who told me I smelled like smoke. Because of the recent wildfires, my North Face down jacket reeked of smoke, as did several other items. All the officers found was CBD gummy bears, which you don't smoke. I doubt my room has remained unoccupied since Nov 11th. But, this is not a "true" BW property, and no matter, I was told by BW that BW doesn't believe their customers. It was the last week of June 2023 and my Granddaughter and I were arriving at the Best Western Plus Hotel in Pontoon Beach, IL @ 4:30 🕟 am CT, we had just finished driving nonstop from Gallop West NM. Ashton was on front desk duty and was very helpful and friendly with our check in and arrival!

Our room was Very clean, comfortable and quiet! When we woke up at 10:00 🕙 am CT to go to The St. Louis Arch the temperature outside was already 102 degrees with 85% Humidity Hot 🥵 🥵! The beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked perfectly and was very quiet! When I asked for directions from Jamuel he was very familiar with the route and gave great directions with a few additional tips! Nice Work Jamuel!

We checked back in to the hotel around 7:00 🕖 pm CT and our room was spotless and made completely comfortable again! The shower 🚿 and bathroom were clean and nice in size! We Never heard anything noise wise, the room was so very quiet, it was really nice! In the morning I was just about to miss breakfast 🍳 that was provided with the room stay, when Roxi (God Bless Her Soul!) allowed me to have Breakfast and waited until I was done eating! Roxi you don’t know how happy, grateful 🥲 and important that was to me, because we still had to drive to Mid Michigan! Connie at the front desk was so very friendly and helpful, she made me feel like we were special friends! Everyone was Extremely Friendly and Helpful! This was the Best of our stays on our vacation! I've been here for around 6 weeks. Breakfast and the lady attending breakfast great! However rooms dont get cleaned even if asked they have a serious drama going on between housekeepers. I at least left 7 complaints about room being serviced the last time I asked the housekeeper promised if I extended she would do a deep clean on my room I got back to my room and covers not tucked in same sheets on bed not even a half hearted effort given bits of paper articles I dropped a few days before I left to see if they were picked up , not happening. I had other guys at the laquinta inn next door and they cleaned rooms every day. Breakfast is good there but not great. However you do get your room cleaned wich imo at the end of the day is way more important to me. I have a couple more months here . Rest assured it won't be with BW . Like I said I left at least 7 messages for the manager and 0 response beds are about the same. Sleep closer to the window not the TV. I really gave this place way to many chances and spent thousands here. I am a very unhappy customer and manager needs replced or needs to start listening to customers. This place won't have a name in the future or maybe they should change to motel 6 or America's Best Value brand at least there you know what your going to get.
