THE LODGE at Kiln Creek — Hotel in Poquoson

The resort grounds are beautiful…the little bit I saw at least because my reservation was canceled in their system due to unexpected room damages, but still active on my end…so I was room-less, hours from home, 0% ready for my best friend’s wedding rehearsal dinner that started in less than an hour at that point in time. I could feel the stress and panic tears starting to build, until the sweet, sweet girl at the front desk took initiative and started problem solving.

Whitley was absolutely precious, empathetic, and so helpful. She stayed calm and kind to me and everyone I heard her speak with, even though the situation was stressful and unexpected. As someone who works in customer service myself, I could tell she was a little nervous that I may get upset as the situation was potentially very problematic and definitely stressful, but literally zero fault of her’s or anyone’s directly, things happen. After what I can assume were many phone calls, she was able to get me booked into a very nice sister property and even got my trip comped.

This whole situation could’ve gone completely differently had Whitley not gone above and beyond, all while staying professional and empathetic. I guarantee yall don’t pay her enough, but...

The property is very nice. The room was clean and had everything we needed. But the best part was the staff that we interacted with. Whitley at the front desk helped us out on several things - extra coffee, cups and creamer. She even moved us to a different room after spending the night with a loud cricket that had taken up residence in the A/C vent! Doesn't seem like a big deal - but during the night it sure was! She was super accommodating.

Jordan checked us in when we got there for our late check-in - super friendly and plenty of info. And last night after we returned home I realized I had a left a necklace in the bathroom on the backsplash. I was so distraught (it's a special necklace to me). I called first thing in the morning. Jordan let me know he didn't have anything that had been turned in - but would go check the room. And he found it there!!! He's mailing it to me. AWESOME!!! Thanks to all the wonderful staff in the hotel and the restaurant! I have family in the area and hope to go back and stay again.

This was my first trip to the area here for business. After staying at the Lodge I will definitely be back for a personal visit.

The rooms are fantastic. My particular room ( first floor ) had a patio, which I believe each lower floor does and upper floors balconies, that I was able to sit on in the evenings and get some work done. Very peaceful.

The property has a new restaurant “Nest” which I ate dinner at every night. The food was great as well as a very friendly staff. They have a large number of local beers on tap as well.

Had an opportunity to meet Ivey, who is the hotel manager. She was very personable and a great representation of the Lodge. Her staff was very accommodating to my one and only request to have a key card for my room. They utilize the Openkey app which is great unless you’re like me and leave my phone laying around all the time.

They also have a stay and play option which I will definitely be using for my next visit.
