The Harbor Hotel — Hotel in Prescott

Another amazing stay at the Harbor Hotel! The Harbor Hotel is hidden gem. It is located just up the hill from downtown Prescott, WI. The hotel has been completely renovated and modernized. Harbor Hotel is reminenisant of a mid-century motel with external entrances to each room and parking directly outside your door. As a single woman who travels with 2 large dogs, I cannot understate the luxury of being able to drive directly to my room and unload the dogs and luggage directly from my van to my room. No waiting in line to check-in at the front desk with a lobby full of people while juggling my bags and 2 90lb Shepinois. No long treck down a hallway, up an elevator, or stairs to get to my room. No card type room key to have to struggle with to get the door to unlock. (Seriously, it shouldn't take me 10 minutes of swiping and re-swiping, praying that this swipe will be the one where the light will turn green and the dock will unlock). Just pull up to your room, enter the 4 digit lock code provided prior to your check-in time, and your done. Such a simple thing, but it saves a lot of time and stress! Each room is named after a different state and is exquisitly decorated to reflect its namesake. The rooms are a perfect blend of 1950's charm (complete with retro microwaves and mini fridges) and modern ammenities. The bathrooms have an oversized shower and modern fixtures. Each room I have stayed in has been slightly different. Some have a livingroom area, some a kitchenette with a full sink, some with multiple beds, so there is something for everyone. All rooms I have stayed in have had a large flat screen tv with cable, bed(s) and bedding that are extremely comfortable and best of all, a large window on the backside of the room that faces the St. Croix river. The sunset view from the rooms are stunning!! The hotel shares a paved parking area with a gas station and Pizza Arcade on one end, and Philander's Bar& Grill (great food, friendly staff) on the other end. The hotel is also just a short 10-15 min walk to downtown. I usually walk through the neighboorhood behing the hotel to get to downtown to avoid walking on the busier street with the dogs. Our stay at (9/4-9/6-2025) The Harbor Hotel was good, each room had a theme, very modern, clean (few ants), and the check in process was simple, the interior designer was artistic. Appreciated the complimentary waters (I wish the bourbon on the shelfs in a few of the rooms was complementary), and couple of snacks was a nice touch. We were in the New York room, queen bed, was accommodating, but a bit uncomfortable, warn or soft to our liking. The atmosphere was comfortable, however when we first arrived in the room the was a sever mold smell in the air, perhaps the fresh air intake on the HVAC unit was over some wet moldy ground or dirt or perhaps has never had preventive maintenance done, turned on the heat and smelled like urine. The shower was nice, walking / zero entry, however it took roughly 5 minutes or longer to get lukewarm water or even hot (not just this room but others in the facility as well, we had others in our group staying as well in other rooms, and they had the same experience). The sink was large and nice design, but also a very slow drain, almost plugged. What was most interesting is the fact that I had not read the reviews until I got home and yet reading them Joseph 11 months ago stayed in this very same room and commented on two of the same experience we had and still not resolved. We where in contact with management the entire time and they where very responsive, followed up about our issue, did get us extra towels, but provide no relief or solutions to the mold smell, slow drain, or cold showers. When speaking with management and raising our concerns the immediate response sounded like we were getting evicted, want to refund our money and provide no other solutions or compensation, and I get it if the place is full there is no other option. However, as we walked the rooms and was able to look in it appeared to have vacant or open rooms. I hope the best for them, they have a few locations (3) around town but would not choose...

First I will say we got an immediate full refund because we needed to leave ASAP due to the health hazards in our room.||||The room seemed nice and clean. Until I noticed dog hair covering the bed. We pulled back the covers thinking maybe like a traditional hotel they don't regularly wash the duvet. WRONG! Through the fitted sheet we noticed a large reddish brown stain. From there we pulled off the thin sheet to find a blood stain. Yes a full blood stain. Upon further inspection we found multiple blood like stains. Surrounding the blood stain looked like urine. A weird blueish outline of a stain. These stains were on the duvet, the fitted sheet, and the mattress pad. ||||Upon asking the host Megan if we could switch rooms she said no, but if the room was UP TO OUR STANDARDS she would refund us. ||Up to our standards whose standards include blood stains? ||We needed to wash a few dishes and noticed the sponge had an awful bacterial smell and there was no way to dry them. So the dishes we had used quickly to eat could have been harboring more than we would have liked.||||This isn't a matter of a little dog hair. This is a biohazard. These sheets and mattress should be removed immediately. ||||Megan never apologized, did not seem shocked, offered no sympathy for us having to last minute drive to another town to find a clean hotel room. ||After she sent the refund there was no further communication. ||||If she doesn't delete this review...
