I wish ZERO stars was possible. I never even made it to this hotel to spend the night and still experienced the WORST costumer service. I called to book a room at this hotel, and was rushed by the man working the front desk to make the reservation. He never explained how much I was going to be charged. He never told me the cancelation policy. I called to cancel the reservation 15 minutes after making the reservation due to extreme weather conditions... No one picked up the phone after I called twice, and no one returned my phone call after I left a message. I called the costumer care office through Wyndham, and was extremely disappointed when I was told there was nothing they could do except, file a "concern". I called this hotel several times throughout the weekend. The man who I booked the reservation with would answer, and I would ask to speak to the manager. He would YELL at me and tell me that the manager would be in later that day, and kept telling me to call back. FINALLY, after 5 days I heard back from the manager and she only offered a 50% refund, due to the fact that they were at "full capacity" that night and had to turn away other guests. I would normally agree, and drop the matter. Except that they could have filled that room if they had answered the phone or called me back. I just wish that the hotel staff would take full responsibility for the issue. The disrespect that I experienced from this man at the front desk should have been a sign to stay far away from this hotel.
I have stayed all over the world, and I never leave bad reviews. I don't have high expectations for hotels of this kind. All I ever expect from the front desk is to be spoken to kindly, and to have whatever questions or concerns I have to be answered with manners. The bare minimum...
Read moreNot easy to find motels in the Danbury region, as Rt. 7, the main commercial highway accessing the area has not been terribly built up. Like much of Connecticut, this section of the state prizes its relative tranquility that's accented by rolling hills and narrow streams. So when a Days Inn pops up in the midst of this preserved countryside you either gnash your teeth or say thank God, the latter your reaction if you're desperate for a place to stay with darkness fast closing in. For the sake of fairness, we'll judge the motel by the latter situation.
The room scores well for cleanliness and comfort. Linens are crisp and the sturdy mattress shows no sign that the Kama Sutra occupies a drawer in the night table. On the other hand, it was very small, allowing for limited area to open a large suitcase without having to navigate around it en route to the door or the bathroom. A reasonable place to visit, but you wouldn't want to spend two nights there.
Fortunately -- again due to the dearth of commerce in the environs -- there is an Indian restaurant on the premises. It's considerably more upscale than your typical eatery adjoining a roadside motel. Service is even almost on the formal side. Nonetheless, the food was unexceptional, but your grateful for it just being there.
Kind of out of the way, so it might be easy (as it was for me) to simply pull up and get a room. There are no interstates a short hop away and you're on the section of US-7 where it begins to get rural and remote. But, I grabbed it at dusk on a Sunday night, so my experience might have...
Read moreI called to book for 2 adults and a small dog. The price was fairly reasonable, but it was a Sunday night. We walked in to a strong aroma of Indian food, but there is an Indian restaurant next door. The carpeting on the stairway was quite soiled, which does not give a very good 1st impression. The floor in our room was slanted, so the bed was slanted. There was a coffee maker, but no cups and just 1 plastic cup. I had to go downstairs, press the buzzer and wait several minutes for someone to come out. A while later, I went to buy a bottle of water. Same thing. Press buzzer and wait. An older gentleman came out, but did not quite understand me. I ended up having to buy 3 bottles of water because all I had was a $5. Trying to charge phones was a challenge. Outlets were scarce and placed inconveniently. 1 coat hanger in the whole room. In the morning, went to look for a blow dryer, but there wasn’t one. I told the manager, and he just brushed me off. I asked for a copy of the bill and he said he would email it. Never did. The next day I notice an extra $34 charge on my account. I called them and they told me it was a pet fee. I was told the pet fee was included when I booked. Needless to say, we won’t be back. The only plus is its close proximity to my family, but I will drive a few extra miles to Danbury and pay the same price or less at a...
