Working with a buddy to build his home with logs supplied by Yellowstone. There is good and bad to the supplied materials. The logs are dry and tend to be straight which was very nice. The quality of the cope on the logs varies greatly depending on how much extra peeling the log required. There were also mistakes on their end: posts that were missed on the cut sheet, end copes made to the wrong diameter, posts that should have been coped that were not, copes off layout for floor joists. Some of the supplied materials were very nice and some probably should have been rejected in particular load bearing posts with large splits running full length. The logs supplied were in some cases fairly weathered as if they had been exposed to the weather for some time. I have been to the factory where lots of logs were stored in in open sided sheds. I do not think that these logs were stored that way. The arrived on the truck uncovered but staples on the logs made it look like they were covered at one point. If I was looking to do a build for myself, I am not sure if I would go with Yellowstone or not...
