Horrible overall experience. ||Due to a last minute change in plans and very short notice, at 2am on a Wednesday, we had to find a temporary place to stay, bringing all of our possessions (3 car loads of stuff), including our cat. My fiancée works at local restaurant, working 6pm - 3am, Tuesday-Sunday. I'm in the process of finalizing employment.||||Upon my fiancée returning from work at 3am, we drove up and down route 40 looking for a motel to stay. We decided Duke's was the most suitable place to stay. Being honest & up front, I told the man at the front desk about our current situation (housing situation, how much stuff we had and the cat). To avoid being charged needlessly for an entire day, at 6am I brought all of our stuff over in 3 car loads. ||||Giving it a shot, I pleaded with the man at the front desk, to make an exception with our cat. Not a chance (which is completely understandable), so with no other options, we were forced to keep that cat in our car or lose him altogether. We gave him blankets, fresh food, water, litter box and made sure the car had fresh air as well as warmth. ||||No sooner do we settle down and fall asleep, does house keeping wake us up by letting themselves in the room! Why, it was previously vacant? Were they looking for our cat? Who knows. We managed to get a little sleep, before my fiancée had to go to work. While she's at work, I relentlessly search for a permanent place to stay, storage and a temporary place to stay. After returning from work, Thursday at 3 am, we eventually fall asleep around 6-7 a.m. Again, no sooner do we fall asleep, housekeeping calls, teling us they have to clean the room. Again? Aside from all of our stuff, we've kept the room spotless. Well, to satisfy whatever their problem is, we let the extremely kind housekeeper in, to change sheets, vacuum & empty the trash. By the time she's done and we've settled down, we managed to get a couple hours of sleep, before my fiancée had to go to work (she's a working machine!). Upon paying for another couple of days rent, I request a Do Not Disturb sign. ||||To shorten the length of the review, I'll summarize the rest of our experience. Each day, from housekeeping to maintenance, seemingly every afternoon, they do disturb us, not allowing us to get a good night's sleep. So, here we are, Sunday, paid up tomorrow morning, neither of us have had more than 3 straight hours of sleep and tomorrow I have to move our stuff into storage, a job interview and another place to stay...because the owner is kicking us out... All because we have a cat in our car and she doesn't want to take a chance that we'll bring him in our room. Meanwhile, we haven't brought the cat in, haven't got any sleep because of their disturbing us and out of respect, we've kept the room spotless. ||||This was just a downright horrible experience, plus the staff themselves have told us, the owner cares more about the motel, than her paying guests, yet, they Band-Aid all of the problems, from our sink and shower drain being clogged, having to push while turn to shut the hot water off, which sprays all over. No microwave, refrigerator, the heat is either scorching or off, the air conditioner barely works, but it's necessary to counter the intense heat. You have to pay a 10 deposit if you want a remote for the TV (I used a free app on my phone to control it). ||||All in all, we spent $325 so we could have little to no sleep and keep our stuff safe. It may have been a different situation, had we not had our cat. I really understand where the owner is coming from, but the fact that we haven't broken any rules and the room will be in the exact same condition as it was upon arrival, I don't appreciate the lack of respect we were given, nor, how we were...

Read moreStayed here last night with the husband and 2 small kids. Not a bad place. Decent price and close to shopping. Room was large, clean, western themed. Not sure if all are as well. Rooms are definitely dated and use some upgrading but still work. We had no smoking room but I dont think everyone was as concerned with that since it was a bit musty. My concerns lay with the door and bathroom. The door to our room opens outward which really upset me. It was also clear the door had been kicked in and pride open. Did not leave me feeling safe, and with 2 small kids in this area, momma didn't sleep well at all! You have a door knob that locks behind you and a chain on the door. The other issue was the bathroom. It was freezing! We could not get the heat in there to turn on. The window is an old double tilt style window with a screen inside. These old windows do not seal and with a screen didn't help. We had well below freezing temps last night so that door stayed closed! I even took the towels and stuffed them against the screen to stop the air flow. But the room we slept in got nice and toasty due to the old electric baseboards, so we were warm while we slept. The bathroom was cleaned but the shower was dripping. Given the temps I believe it was intentionally left that way so pipes wouldn't freeze. We didn't use the bedding since I have a thing about it myself. I did check it though and the sheets were freshly cleaned as was the mattress pad between the bed and sheets. I also checked for bed bugs given Baltimore's rise on the listing for them. Didn't see any evidence of bugs. I checked both beds seems in the side seems and too seems, nothing. I even looked on the comforter seems and curtain seems. No evidence of bugs of any kind! Made me VERY happy there. We had no issues with people trying to come in during the night. Did hear someone outside at 530 in the morning but that was it. You can hear EVERYTHING outside. At this time we would consider...
