1-night stay on a trip to/from CO. This is an older hotel that is holding its own. Not too updated, but still in decent shape. The price is justified for this hotel. We didn't get breakfast here as we had to be on the road before it was served. Everything was clean and it was a good stay! The ckeckin and cleaning staff were friendly! Only a couple critiques, not necessarily complaints. There was only a 1/2 roll of toilet paper. (No backup?) Glad I bring my own on trips, or might've been an issue. Only a couple of towels provided, couldve been an issue if more than 2 people or more than 1 night. But, we didn't have to ask for anything. The layout of room was a bit awkward, with bathroom being split; vanity being outside of actual room (tub/toilet behind door). The blackout curtains were fine for window but some kind of shades/sheers would be nice too. A/C was working pretty hard set on 70, but it was mostly keeping up on a hot and humid upper 80's day. No pool 😞 We didn't even know it had one when booked: but saw it was closed when we went to get ice. That would be a great perk if they could get it open. We liked the drive up to the door style of this hotel! What was a bit tedious was that we were put in the middle of a contracted labor crew of workers, and although not rowdy, they were in and out of their 5-6+ rooms; beside and above us, many times throughout the evening. Like living with pets that all they want to do is go out to come back in then turn around and want back out, just to come back in. 🤣 But it was fine! We felt safe and it was quiet otherwise. Definitely a good place to stay in this small town that has basically nothing to do but sleep. You can walk to Pizza Hut or...
Read moreI found this hotel to be fantastic, and my experience as a hotel manager has left me with a keen eye. I recently stayed at this hotel for a week while relocating to Russell, KS. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive, there was something for everyone at breakfast (I was pleasantly surprised by their microwave omelettes!), the pool was pristine and very private for the location, the linens were fresh and soft, and the onsite guest laundry was well maintained and effective. In spite of the fact that I was in a pet friendly, smoking room, the room was immaculate and updated. The only issue I found during the entire week was the ice machine wasn't functioning. I didn't see it as a big deal, since there are several places to buy ice within walking distance, but the owner appeared with a bag of ice before I even made it to my room. It is unusual to find that balance between attentive and intrusive! Located just off of I-70, this place is within a stone's throw to several restaurants (Meridy's and Peking Garden were amazing!) and convenience stores. I would highly recommend, whether it's long term or just...
Read moreWe were in need of a place to stay one night. We originally planned to stop at Hays, KS however, all the hotels were booked. So we drove a bit further to Russell. ||I called the hotel to make sure there was a room and was told there was one king room left for $108 for the night. Against my better judgement, I reserved it (non-cancellable) so we would have a place to sleep. This was at 11:30 pm. ||When we got to the hotel, there were some random guys hanging around so we were a little worried about that. We went to the counter with the reservation and got our keys. ||Once in the room, we found it to be circa about 1978. The carpet was disgusting. No way we could even walk on it barefoot. ||The toilet didn't seem to be securely fastened to the floor. It was wobbly. ||The sink was stained I guess by hard water. ||The sheets were so thin we could almost see thru them. The AC unit rattled all night and never regulated the temperature. We woke up 6 hours later in an icebox.||For over $100 a night this was a...
