Pizza Hut — Restaurant in Russell

I had the good fortune today to stop at the Pizza Hut in Russell Kansas. I passed the restaurant and saw that it was a dine in style Pizza Hut, so I decided to give it a try.

My first question, "Do you have beer" was met with a enthusiastic "Yes!" by the customer associate that greeted me. I asked about seating, and she told me to sit where ever I like, and that she would have my beer right out.

After washing up, I found my table with menus, my cold beer, and a frosty mug awaiting.

Did I mention that my beer was cold?

To my delight, this Pizza Hut was exactly like the "red roofs" I remembered from my childhood, and on the menu was Garlic Bread (add cheese)! This is a very old favorite of mine and hard to find, but besides the nostalgia and the delicious hot food when it promptly arrived, it was my server Tammy who made my day.

She was courteous but prompt, friendly but not overbearing, and she provided very efficient service. She was also social when she had time (she was clearly busy with other work, but still never neglected my table).

It has been a long time since I was able to enjoy what I think of as the Pizza Hut of Old, and today I got the very best of this from the Pizza Hut in Russell Kansas, and the reason it was so incredible was that Tammy, my server, has been an employee of this restaurant for 30+ plus years and is, no surprise, the general store manager.

Thank you so much for this experience, Tammy! I will return as soon as I can.

I usually give pizza hut the benefit of the doubt. Sure they're not the greatest pizza hut, but they seemed to try for a while as a chain. Well it seems like putting in any kind of effort is over for these chain restaurants. The service was terrible. The salad bar awful, and the pizza was horrendous. I thought the service was terrible because I noticed a sign at the door about short staffing but this proved to not be the case as I saw 6 of the 6 on duty employees standing around the desk and getting drinks. The salad bar looked like all the ingredients had been sitting there all day. The pizza looked like the crust came frozen to the store so all the workers would have to do is put on sauce and toppings, but this turned out terribly as the crust was dry and flavorless and they barely or on any toppings as at least 33% of this pizza was crest and terrible toppings. When we paid the waiter, if you could call him that, didn't put our free "book it" credit on the ticket. I don't know if this experience is just at the Russell Pizza Hut, but if it is and your near Russell and hungry for pizza I suggest you drive the extra hour to Salina for if you choose to get pizza at pizza hut there, you'll be too hungry to care about the...

My family and I were traveling through Kansas and saw a billboard that showed a nearby Pizza Hut with a lunch buffet. We were excited. This location has their lunch buffet 11:30 AM - 1 PM.

I should have known by look the main waitress gave me when we walked in that we should have turned around and left.

We were extremely disappointed to find that the staff would not make any more pizzas or anything for the buffet at the time we walked in at 12:50.

There were several pizzas with 3-4 slices left, including veggie lover, pineapple & ham, and sausage. They had a few cinnamon bread sticks and regular bread sticks, but everything appeared untouched for some time.

When we complained about it to the staff, the manager spoke about profit and not making any money off making one fresh pizza for the buffet at that point.

Several other parties walked in around that same time, and I thought they could've made some money but chose not to. Sad.

The entire restaurant was grimy and needed a good cleaning. One entrance door had a sign that read the door is broken, please use other door. The women's restroom lock was broken.
