The website has a list of amenities in each unit, but what it does not say is that each unit is privately owned and the amenities are mere suggestions. The reservation was for 6 people, in a unit that was supposed to sleep 6. Unfortunately, the private owner had replaced the sofa bed with a standard sofa, and so the apartment only slept 5. We were in unit 304 of Building I, and the apartment smelled musty, the bedrooms were very small and cluttered with furniture that was falling apart. THe bathrooms were small, and though tubs were listed among the amenities in each unit, there were no tubs in either bathroom. The fold-out cot that my daughter slept on randomly collapsed at 4 in the morning, 5 hours after she went to bed. The outside of the complex is falling apart, the pools were dirty, and the office is only open for about 3 hours a day. Check-in starts at 4 every day, but the office closes at 4. If you have a problem, you have to call an after hours number and the lady tells you that she is not on property and the manager will have to call you back the next day. You are only guaranteed one parking spot per unit, although the place was almost deserted while we were there so there was plenty of parking. The beach access is difficult to locate, but when you find it, there is a privacy gate that only allows guests to access back from the beach. The only problem is that they never gave us the code to get back in the gate! Our room was an ocean view apartment, which means we could see a little glimpse of the ocean through trees and other buildings. (See photo below). We found dirty dishes in the cabinets, and overall the apartment was dingy and things seemed to be falling apart. The manager was pretty rude on the phone (i could not catch her in the office) and suggested that it was my fault for booking the place and that she can’t help it if the owners change their furniture. We will never come back to this place! Thankfully we found a last minute house for rent and were able to move. Stay away from...

Booked for 1 wk, in studio apartment.we did not even stay one night.

Someone promised to call us with our room access code. No one did. We went to the actual office at 4 pm when they were supposed to be open. No one there. Called & was nicely told our code etc.

Arrived in room, furniture old but acceptable, but bed cover was old, stained & had multiple holes/tears on underside. Blanket throw did not look clean. Sheets & towels were fresh. Tiny kitchenette had some weird type of tiny toaster oven/coffee maker combo. (Looked like an overgrown kids Easy bake oven). Coffee maker had about 2 inches of mould in it. Cupboard had a used bottle of syrup that was almost coagulated. Fridge was clean. Minimal utensils including a fry pan , (. not sure what that was for as no stove).

Ceiling vents in bathroom & main area had lots of dirt/ dust hanging from them. Looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years.

Checked out the pool area, which was nice. However, was told that the hot tub was in fact a cold tub. We easily accessed this area without the special access code provided to us. We simply unlocked the gate.

Tried to connect to wifi. The pswd on the laminated instruction card did not work. No one on property seemed to know the correct one. Again called office & did get the correct one.

Called office requesting room reassignment & told to call next am. We were so upset, we tried to call main office # on our reservation sheet… # disconnected. Next contacted Expedia online for assistance. They were great but we lost our deposit/ penalty.

Maybe we chose the wrong room but would advise others to be very careful in booking...

Loved our stay, currently still on the trip just avoiding packing at the moment. Will definitely be back. It was a family vacation that we needed. Distance to the beach isn’t bad. There’s boardwalks all around leading you to the many different pools and spas and directly to the beach. It was a little confusing trying to find the unit, granted we were a little flustered from travel, but we found it nonetheless. Entry was easy with a keypad entry. I did have to call to get the code vs. the email and earlier confirmation said they’d call me the day before or the day of check in. No worries, quick to respond to questions when contacted. Very nice too. I think I spoke to Dominique or Dominic day of check in, very nice and patient with me when I was trying to find our room and helped with directions. Pros: close to town, decent price, location to the beach, nice place to lay our heads at night, cookware was amazing, comfy couches, has a great view from the balcony. Loved having a washer and dryer in the unit. Niece says she loved the safety lock on the doors. Cons: shower stopped up after the first shower, jacuzzi tub shot hair out of the jets when turned on. Other than that,...

Had bugs/roaches in more than one cabinet.pillows had blood stains along with some other mysterious stain. Seemed like the cleaners did a very quick and more less lazy clean after the previous guest stayed. Dead spiders in the dresser drawers, pubic hair on and behind toilet. Moldy/dirty curtains. Was supposed to stay for a week at the Hibiscus but ended up getting a room elsewhere.

We spend Thanksgiving here every year and always enjoy this well maintained and comfortable location. It's usually very quiet with a nice sea breeze and we love to walk on the wide beach. The pool and hot tub facilities are well maintained making for a very relaxing and accommodating experience.

We really like the Hibiscus, except for the outdated, and uncomfortable furniture. For a supposedly Luxury Spa Resort, they could do a lot better. But I do like the location, the people of St. Augustine are very friendly and engaging, and the food—particularly the seafood, mmmhua!—to die for!
