Well, let me begin with online booking. I didn't really care to save $3 to become a Mariott member ... uhhhh, I don't travel enough to be interested in membership ... got through the booking process, and even the payment screen, and once I clicked the button to finalize booking, I landed on a screen that said an error occurred in booking, please try again later. (Seriously?) Thank God I clicked receive text messages because I then received a text message about a minute later with abbreviations that I think meant confirm reservation or confirmation reservation? Anyway, called hotel, spoke to someone that confirmed the reservation, and gave me a member number 🤦♀️ Got to hotel - checked in, and staff asked me if I had a member number (which I read previously would grant complimentary wi-fi access which I thought was kind of crappy, considering most coffee shops even have guest wi-fi for free without membership) anyway, so even though the previous person by phone call provided me a member number, I guess the Check-in activated the member number? So far, the emphasis felt like membership was the focus and not the guest's needs. Next, we went to our room and it was warm, even though AC was set to 72. Next, was getting connected to the "free wi-fi" - so when you try to connect, instead of having a button on it's own to connect when you enter your info, you have to click the connect button listed under the one that costs $10!! Work on the website, y'all ... My little one and I patiently waited about 3 hours before I called for help on the AC - I thought maybe since we were facing the sunny side it was just hard to get the room to cool down. Anyway, maintenance was prompt to arrive and did a reset which unfortunately didn't work, so we ended up switching rooms. Upon receiving the new key, there was no apology given by front desk, nor anything offered like a $20 refund or complimentary breakfast, nothing. TTHHHENNNNN in the new room, it was like the only channel that worked on the TV after 9:15 was the news!!! Front desk said there were no time restrictions on channels and offered to send maintenance to help with the tv, but by then it was time for bed. The TV did finally work this morning. The mini fridge didn't really work at it's coldest setting either, and no microwave was in the room. So, my opinion is this location needs to get their focus on the guest, and advance out of the 90's and offer free wi-fi and offer a free breakfast. And I would like to have someone contact me to make-right on this whole...
Read moreNot at all what I expected from a Marriott! The lobby is very pretty but.... #1 The air conditioners in the rooms were so loud when it came on it kept us awake. It sounded like a jet idling on a runway and then cleared for takeoff, revving the jets with enough power to take off. I'm not exaggerating. LOL It was funny at first but not when it kept us up at night. #2 The digital thermostat is very pretty but shines so bright at night it looked like a TV shining right in your eyes. Maybe supply sleeping masks. I had to rig up clothes over it just to sleep. #3 The water was soooo softened we kept trying to rinse our hands after washing them while trying to avoid wasting water. I know San Antonio has water conservation issues and your OVERLY softened water leads to more water usage. I don't mind soft water but this felt like rinsing your hands in slimy okra water. Yuk. #4 Horrible view of the roofing AC systems. The hotel was not booked so why they didn't give us the other side of the building which has a little better view. #5 Staff was nice but seemed clueless about regular hotel stuff. I asked for foam pillows instead of feather pillows and they sent us "down alternative" pillows which are basically the same thing as feather pillows. There were other things that just seemed like they were clueless. One night we saw a guy that looked like he was breaking into a truck and when we went inside to mention it the clerk said he would tell the security officer when he comes in later that night for his shift. HUH??? #6 The in room refrigerator was frozen and full of frost. We defrosted it for y'all and put the giant chunk of ice in the sink. It still didn't work. #7 The bathroom flooring is starting to come up on the floor outside of the shower. #8 OMG don't even offer coffee maker in the room if you can't do any better that that silly thing that spurts water all over the place and takes minutes to brew one tiny cup of horrible tasting coffee. My husband went to get coffee downstairs the next morning instead of drinking that gross coffee in the room and wasn't offered a carrying container or cup wraps for the hot coffee. He spilled one cup on the way up while trying to carry the cups, creamers and sugar so we just shared the one cup. #9 very limited bar hours. You guys could make a lot of money on drinks if the bar was open other than when people are out eating dinner in SA. We came back from dinner, wanted to have a drink and the bar...
Read morePlanning an event from out-of-town can be a daunting task. I contacted Marriott and connected with Teresa, who made Planning a baby shower an absolute breeze. I wanted to have an elegant baby shower, and it needed to be inside because San Antonio... in August...with a very pregnant sister. I came to terms with the fact that it was going to be in a hotel conference room, but I'd make the best of it and try to make it as classy as possible with decorations. But let me tell you, when we walked into the space set up for us, I was blown away by the beautiful setup and the care that obviously went into making our event an amazing one. Teresa ensured everything we requested was already set up (extra tables, a chair for the mother to be. She even thought of things I hadn't yet thought of). We were able to start setting up with plenty of time before our event and met Angela. Now Angela claims to be human, but I'm fairly certain she's an absolute angel walking around on this earth. I was stressing out, the room was perfectly set up for mingling, food, baby activity stations, and centered so everyone would have the perfect view of gift time...but i had a problem, where would I put my photo wall - that needed to be close to a plug. Angela walked in to check on us, offered an extension cord and the perfect location for the wall, and did it all with a smile and promptness, and was so friendly. She thought of everything. She was kind and made our event amazing! Tammy stopped in to check on us and made sure we were all set! If you're planning an event, look no further - the staff are the absolute best. The food was amazing...the tea and coffee were absolutely delicous....I mean so good I feel the need to mention them in my review.
Check-in for our room was a breeze. The elevators were a little slow, and our door was a little wonky. The lock would stick out at random times, but that's okay. Our room was clean and stayed cool. Plenty of towels and the rooms are stocked with body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. We were able to check-in early (another relief after a long night of traveling).
The beds had 4 pillows on them each, as someone who sleeps with multiple pillows at home this was fantastic. The beds aren't too hard, or too soft they were just right. Goldi Locks wouldn't have had so much trial and error if she had booked at San Antonio Marriott.
Thanks for giving us a great stay and an even...
