#1 (Skunks) Make for a miserable stay. #2 Discriminate against handicap.
There are a lot of wonderful things I can say about this campground and the majority of the people are wonderful but I have two major complaints first of all this trip myself and my two dogs got sprayed by a skunk we've stayed here five times in the last 18 months. Each time for the full 20 days after selling our home we developed some health problems and our RV lifestyle has been postponed while we deal with them but we needed to stay locally because my wife wants to be close to her doctor so we have a lot of experience with benelli they have an ongoing continuous problem with skunks apparently vector control refuses to do anything about it and campers feed the damn things so they've multiplied like crazy most nights around 10:00 you can take a walk and see at least 3 sometimes as many as 10 if you're walking with puppy dogs the damn things will come up behind you in the dark and try to follow you that's how we got sprayed the dogs realize there was something behind me I turned around and four feet behind me there's the small young skunk. We were there here the last two christmases and both times somewhere close a skunk made the whole area miserable I talked to one lady who said she come out of her RV rather quickly to go to her car. Seen something moving underneath her trailer bent over to take a look and got sprayed right in the face. If you come out of your RV slow at night, make a little noise they'll run away so if you're careful and you don't have dogs you probably won't get sprayed. I guarantee you if you stay 20 days part of that time you will be smelling skunk because one let go somewhere close. The second problem I have with benelli is my wife and I are both disabled we have a 27 ft thor Motor coach which doesn't have much room to live in instead of trading for a bigger coach I added a 12 ft trailer behind to put our handicap scooters and many of my wife's medical supplies in. The 12 ft trailer has most of our clothes cooking supplies. Benelli requires if you have a trailer you pay $10 a day extra and put it in their storage unit lot number three you have to call and have someone meet you to open the gate if you need something and many of them will tell you they're just a lot is closed after 7:00 p.m. although because of our handicap status many times they have opened it late for us. For someone handicapped this is a major inconvenience if I went and bought a pickup and a toy hauler trailer which would be the exact same size as my motor coach and 12 ft trailer The toy hauler would be fine. Benelli RV campgrounds discriminate against the...
Read moreI understand when you see 1 star you may think a person is biased but please read on before you stay here. My husband and I travel in a sprinter van for work and finding a place to park in LA is virtually impossible so when we found an opening here we were excited to be camping over the holiday. For those of you who RV a lot know that some of the loops while on the map it may look like you have your own space you are actually sharing a paved parking spot with your neighbor. Also, the bathrooms have 2 toilets and two showers each and with the doors being propped open everyone can watch you shower. There are no fire pits at your camp site unless you bring one that is 18 inches off the ground and you can put it on concrete. There are no grills at the sites. Also, you are not allowed to hang up hammocks or anything from the trees. Make sure you bring plenty of leveling blocks because most of the sites are not level.
We called last minute to find they had 2 spaces available for the 3 nights we were looking to stay (dec 31-jan 3). The woman working reservations was informed twice we were traveling in a sprinter van, to which the only question she asked was how long the van was. Upon check in, which the office window looks out on the sprinter van, I was given no information other than turn right at the stop sign and go all the way around the loop. Not once did Deanna in the office ask for ID. Once we drove all the way around loop A to A136 we found our spot. This was around 4 pm on Friday Dec. 31st. We enjoyed the loud music playing for the NYE party around loop A. We slept in on the 1st and went out for a late lunch. Upon arriving back to our spot at 2:30 pm on the 1st we were greeted by a campground host asking if our van had electric, sewer, or water hook ups. Which it does not. He promptly reported us to the office and within 5 minutes I received a call letting me know we were being evicted. Apparently you have to have 2 out of 3 hook ups to be allowed to stay at Bonelli Bluffs RV park which is not mentioned anywhere on their website, confirmation packet, during reservation, or at the time of check in. After staying over one night and planning on spending not only NYE but also my birthday camping this news was more than disappointing. Yes they did give us a refund for the two nights we didn't stay but if you have ever been to the LA area you know having to search last minute 7 a replacement place to stay is practically impossible. Deanna, the same woman who checked me in the day before also was the unapologetic woman evicting us...
Read moreFather's Day weekend 2020. One thing you should know is 1/2 the park is taken by full time residents with elaborate staircases to their trailers, sheds and Easy-up enclosed patios. My wife booked a spot Friday through Sunday with the plan of inviting two families to join us on Saturday afternoon for a couple hours to celebrate. Their website said one guest car per camp site, and their phone recording said guest of campers can visit from 7am to 9pm. Upon arrival, we checked in with a girl in her thirties, bleached hair with black roots. (Did not get a name) She was not friendly and very matter of fact.
My wife asked how to put our guests on the list to get past the security shack. The receptionist said "No guests allowed." I offered to purchase a second site, but without looking she said, "We are all sold out" My wife told her that was not consistent with her website and phone recording. This seemed to upset her. Due to her temperament, we sought out a friendly kid in the market as asked to speak with the manager regarding this issue. The blonde receptionist walked in and said something to the manager who came out to talk to use. Mike (I think was his name) said we could have two adult guests and kids were not counted. He was very matter of fact and not very friendly.
We paid the extra money to have a golf cart at our camping site. Being the first time at this camp site we drove around to check out the area. When returning to our site, Mike stopped by to say he had received "multiple" calls/complaints I was exceeding the 5 MPH golf cart speed limit and I had driven the wrong direction on a one way road. Really 5 MPH??? I apologized and told him we would be more careful.
Mike also arrived in a golf cart to speak with us, he definitely was exceeding the 5 MPH speed limit when he approached our site. My cart is 36V and max's out at 25 MPH on level surfaces. There are speed bumps every 100' in the park and I came to a near full stop for each one. Numerous carts were driving much faster than mine and drivers were openly drinking alcohol while driving right next to Mike near the office. Clearly we had upset their staff and were under the scope.
This park is private property and they have the right to arbitrarily make up and enforce any rules they seem fit. Instead of dealing with their shenanigans, we quietly and respectfully packed up our toy hauler, a few hours after arriving, and left their park. Needless to say I...
